We chose this cruise because we had loved our river cruise with Viking and wanted to try our first ocean cruise with them. We liked the idea of a smaller ship and no kids. The itinerary sounded good and we were interested in the pre and post extensions.

My husband and I selected the 5-day Denali extension. The train was a wonderful experience as we relaxed in the glass domed car and watched the gorgeous scenery go by! The food on the train was really good as well. Our guide was very knowledgeable and fun. We went into the park on a park bus with a naturalist learned a lot. We wished we could have gone further into the park. The included dinner buffet was just acceptable. The hotels were nice and scenery was amazing! Talkeetna was a great town with arts and crafts along with good food.

We boarded our ship in Seward and took the Kenai Fjords optional excursion. Great views of puffins, Stellar sea lions, humpback whales and sea otters. Holgate glacier was wonderful and we were very near!

Cabin Review

Great size! We booked the same category cabin for our next Viking cruise.

Glacier was spectacular and timing was right for the salmon hatchery (mid-July)
