As soon as I heard Viking was going to Alaska we reserved our room. Alaska had been on my bucket list. We had enjoyed our river cruise down the Rhine. We were able to include an old friend and husband which enhanced our trip. Our room was perfect , comfortable, able to relax and every morning as we sailed into port I was on the balcony taking pictures and feeling in awe at the scenery. The food is tasty and the variety amazing.we dined at various restaurants and enjoyed them all. Every night we watched the entertainment and enjoyed it. It was geared to our age group. The excursions were informative and fun. I used the spa and enjoyed a massage and salon. We enjoyed cocktails at and listened to the music of violins and guitar. Very relaxing. The staff is Friendly, and enhance the trip. I am anxious to take our next cruise this summer. The common areas such as the main open area. Is divided into small intimate areas with comfortable chairs and tables. Very easy to converse with friends. There are constant activities on board and off. The daily news letter details the next days activities,weather, etc. every morning the activity director gave a detailed synopsis of pertinent information. The Television had constant weather and information as to where the ship was at that moment and the proposed destination for the day. The large assortment of food choices and food venues was impressive. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet most days but the dining room offered more formal dining. Everything was fastidiously clean. Even the balcony was washed daily. Every staff person talked to us in passing which impressed us. Returning to the ship after excursions involved security precautions which were impressive. Again can’t wait for our summer river cruise. At every cruise we take we include one or two add on excursions which greatly enhance our trip. Viking manages everything which means stress free traveling. The land and hotel accommodations have been five star. We have enjoyed our trips from start to finish.
