Got off the ship because this was a port in-between to days at sea. Had a beer and lunch at a local bar. Enjoyed talking with the vendors that were at the port and hearing about their island. ...
This island was a "bust" for most people. However, I took the optional tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. The guide was excellent and took us by air conditioned bus all over the island and told us about the history and culture of the people. ...
Such a little place...but I was primed to see a textile artist (Rosie Ware) right at the pier with her block printed scarves and table linens. The small museum had interesting art to see, and the very small town had a few stores. The one "department store" even had fabric by the yard. But again, beastly hot, so not a fun place to spend a lot of time. ...
Ship excursion. Comfortable mini bus with a fun local. Tour of the town, time at the Hill Fort and then a drive to the cemetery which was a very good reflection of the multicultural heritage of the island. Would not have been possible to do this in the time by walking.

It was raining for part of our tour. We were taken by bus to the old fort and to the cemetry. It would have been possible to walk and there was very little information given. I did not see the point of going to a cemetry. ...
A unique place to visit. The fort and museum are a must. As long as you can walk, do it independently and have a beer at the northernmost pub in Australia. ...
