I was impressed! I was a bit scared of the "older ship" but the Oosterdam did not disappoint! She was stylish, glamorous, and artfully appointed. Food was stunning in the Lido Market, the Vista Dining Room, as well as The Pinnacle (specialty restaurant). The cabins (we sailed in a Signature Suite 8073 with larger veranda!) was very comfortable. Bathrooms were new and well equipped. The service and smiling crew were the crowning achievements of HAL. There was not a grumpy team member to be had. Shore excursions were well organized and well planned for the "more mature" audience. Missing on board was karaoke (maybe a good thing!) and the big boardway show (comedian was excellent, magic show fun, and trio songsters were fun!). The boys at Billboard (piano duo) were stunning and had a very solid fan base! Definitely recommend the History Of HAL presentation and The Talk With The Captain. Jonathan, the Cruise DIrector / Entertainment Director, was very low key and effective. With the threat of on board disease, the crew were constantly wiping surfaces, handing out Purell before your arrival in dining room, spraying down shore excursion trolleys after each journey, and encouraging elbow bumps as opposed to hand shakes. I felt the cruise was a big success and I commend the HAL team for their work! I will be back!
Very comfortable and well appointed. Did not lack for anything.
