In the past, the culture of Princess Service was Excellent. All members of the staff used the word excellent frequently. On the Star, I did not hear the word excellent one time from a staff member. Princess' culture of excellent service does not exist on Star. Perhaps it is because the ship is being sold (there if much deferred maintenance to show current staff knows this - leaky plumbing with buckets to catch the water, rust on exterior of ship, etc) or perhaps it is because staff are used to the current gratuity system where everyone gets gratuity regardless of service level. Whatever the reason, the service was only adequate, NOT SPECIAL
Regarding the cabin, on one occasion we had to request the room be vacumed. On another day we did not get our bed made. There were no swans or other animals made from towels left on the bed (as in the past. There was not a display of towel animals at the pool. There was no ice carving.Various venues had lines. the British Pub was open only 2 days on a 15 day cruise so everyone did not get to dine there. Entertainment was scheduled such that you needed to arrive an hour before the show to get a seat. The entertainment was mostly marginal - simply not special
