We took the 12 night trip from Bangkok to Bali. The disembarkation port is more than 2 1/2 hours away from the city of Bangkok by taxi. This made making a visit to Bangkok after boarding the ship an expensive and challenging proposition. There was no indication of the distance from the port by Viking prior to our actual trip.
Our next disappointment was with the beverage package.. My wife and I are wine drinkers. The advertisements for the beverage package indicates that "premium wines" up to $15 per glass was included in the package. In fact the most expensive wines by the glass were $ 6 from bottles that would cost $10 or less retail. They certainly were not "premium wines" by any stretch of the imagination. I have been on less expensive cruise lines with far superior wine offerings.
On a positive note, the food on board was generally very good at the main restaurant and the buffet. The "Chefs Table" was an exception. The food was mediocre and the service was atrocious. The other specialty restaurant ( Manfredi) was very good with excellent service.
Cabin was very good.
The tour was ok. We spent the majority of the tour just getting to the city because of the distance from the port to the city
Not much to see and the tour operator was repititious and boring.
