Overall, this was a very nice cruise! Beautiful ship, nice crew, great itinerary. We arrived in Hamburg a day early and stayed at the Sofitel Alter Wall. Great hotel, very comfortable and perfect location. A taxi ride from the airport was about 30 euro and from the hotel to the cruise port, another 30 euro.

We arrived at the Steinwerder cruise terminal around 1pm, and apparently, so did everyone else! It was a crazy scene. Fortunately, we had booked through the casino and they had a dedicated check-in desk. That saved us a ton of time. We boarded quickly and enjoyed lunch in the Grand Pacific dining room. Thanks to advice from Cruise Critic members, we always start our cruises with lunch in the dining room and avoid the chaos of the buffet.

Our cabin was ready by 2pm and we found it to be very comfortable. Plenty of outlets to charge phones and batteries. Plenty of hangers in the closet. Nice balcony. We were mid-ship but back a bit, deck 10, which turned out to be the perfect location. We could use the stairs and avoid the elevators during peak times.

Comfortable. Nice balcony. Plenty of room for 2. Great location and easy to use the stairs to get anywhere.

Port Reviews

Hamburg

Stayed at the Sofitel Alter Wall. Very nice hotel. Easy check-in. Comfortable room and bed. Great location and easy to walk around. 30 euro taxi ride from airport to hotel and 30 euro from hotel to Steinwerder cruise terminal.

Olden

We did the troll cars to the Briksdal glacier. Really enjoyed this! One of my favorite excursions. Lots of walking because the troll car only gets you so close, but you have the option of not walking closer to the glacier. Nice store at the end of the ride and a cafe for drinks and bathroom stop. Loved this!

Bergen

This was the only port where we had all day, pouring rain. It didn't slow us down, but we had to put some rain gear on to stay dry. We walked through Bryggen and then spent a few hours wandering through the fortress. Unfortunately, some ships were docked much closer to the shopping and fortress/castle but we had a long walk into town. There was a shuttle that took you a bit closer, but still a lot of walking to get anywhere. Nice town. Would love to go back and see it in good weather.
