We chose this cruise because of the itinerary.
We could tell that the carpets and love seat were new, however I had back and neck aches the whole time -- they needed to replace the mattress and pillows during the updating.
This is our 2nd cruise on RC. Our first was to Alaska and we had a wonderful experience, so we wanted to try RC again on a new adventure. We have never been to the Caribbean before, so all of this was new to us. Not through the fault of Royal Caribbean, but when we arrived the night before the cruise, when we were actually standing in front of it -- we found out our hotel had been closed since the hurricane. No one bothered to tell us that (in San Juan, Puerto Rico). The cabbies told us that 80% of the hotels are not in business anymore. After too much time and into the night; we were able to get a hotel room. ANYONE traveling into Puerto Rico, Please triple check that you have a place to stay. We even received a confirmation e-mail to check in, the day before!
The cabin was spacious enough. New carpet and love seat. Needed a new mattress and pillows (I had back and neck aches during the whole cruise). Balcony was narrow, but you could see straight ahead; bottom of balcony was solid. Plenty of storage space.
We arrived early evening. Our hotel was out of business. The wonderful cab driver stayed with us for 2 hours -- until we were able to find another hotel room. After breakfast we just walked around the neighborhood and went to the ship.
We walked off the ship and walked around town for a while and then took a cab to Maho Beach. The beach itself has rough waves/undertows....it is fun to see the planes fly so close to you as they land. Shower was not working, but the restaurant/bar/shops were open.
We walked to the closest beach (about 40 min from ship). Very friendly people, warm weather, shells, soft sand and pretty water. What else could you ask for?
We walked, again, to the closest beach and then back through town. Beautiful.
