8 adult family members traveling together on a cruise for the second time. The first was on the NCL Pride of America in 2015 to Hawaii.

For this trip, my mother-in-law selected the Princess "Voyage of the Glaciers" because of the option to add the land tour. 4 of the family did not take the land tour. My husband and in-laws and I added the 3 day extra option, and arrived in Fairbanks on Sunday prior to sailing.

We met a few other people that had done the cruise first and land tour second. I'm glad we did the reverse - the people we spoke to were having a good time, but were already exhausted from the excitement of the cruise and weren't thrilled about schlepping from lodge to lodge for an additional period of time.

Our stateroom was on the highest level for staterooms, and only 1 room from the end of our hallway. It was clean, our steward was amazing.

The rooms are a standard balcony - we loved sitting outside to take in the sights. I wasn't super impressed with the closet situation. Because we were traveling with family, there was traffic in and out of our room a lot. Not having doors on the closet wasn't ideal. Plenty of hangers, though only 1 or 2 with pant hooks so I was glad I'd brought a few clothespins. There are a few small shelves with doors where the life jackets are kept, so that was nice. Under bed storage great for suitcases. Bathroom was small - and has the dreaded shower curtain instead of a door. Our shower didn't have the best water pressure, but otherwise no complaints. Everything was clean and well maintained.

Port Reviews

Whittier

Direct to ship from train was excellent. Had to wait in line for security, but that's normal. Everything was very smooth. Our luggage arrived in our stateroom in record time!

Glacier Bay

Majority of the day spent cruising in the national park. Commentary from National Park Rangers who board the ship for the day was very helpful and enjoyable. We could hear it via the TV in our stateroom so we could watch from our balcony. While we had sunshine and no wind the previous day at Hubbard, we had rain and fog at Glacier Bay. I was thankful for all of my layers, and being able to duck back into the stateroom periodically.

Vancouver

Traffic is slow getting from the cruise terminal to the airport. Be prepared to kill time at the airport - they do have great WiFi!

If you are flying to the US, they will pre-clear you through customs, which was awesome.
