Pretty calm in the Bay of Biscay

Review for Queen Victoria to Spain

After a slightly stressful summer holiday we booked this 10 night cruise for a relaxing time and to try out Cunard. Embarkation at Southampton was easy and we were on board in time for lunch in the golden lion pub. We were incredibly lucky with the weather as for the whole cruise the seas were fairly calm, for November and December in the bay of biscay and near Portugal and southern ...

Terrific ship. Food needs improvement.

Review for Le Lyrial (Ponant) to Spain

We've traveled with Ponant ships on a number of trips. The cabins have amble room and storage. Essentially the same layouts on levels 3, 4 and 5. The toilet is in a separate area from the sink and shower. Great water pressure. The ship staff seems to truly enjoy what they do and seem to work together under the guidance of a ship captain who seems to foster a sense of family for all onboard. ...

Especially Bruges, Guernsey, Bordeaux, Ferrol and Lisbon were very nice. Bruges is fabulous. Had a good lunch ashore with a special local beer 'Straffe Hendrik': delicious! In Ferrol I discovered a very good white wine: a Dao Passarella. We made two local excursions in Portugal which can be recommended. On board we had the best bridge TD couple in a long time: friendly and reallygood. What a ...

Explorer Fourth Sailing

Review for Seven Seas Explorer to Spain

User Avatar

6-10 Cruises • Age 60s

Booked this cruise to celebrate a milestone birthday and because of the hype of the new Explorer. Reading the other reviews, I must say I found the same things lacking. By the fourth sail of the Explorer I thought many of the kinks would be fixed. The service levels were just not as crisp as previous experience with Regent. The entertainment was mediocre at best. The excursions were okay, ...

Worried about Regent

Review for Seven Seas Explorer to Spain

We chose this cruise because we are Regent fans, wanted to try the new ship, and were interested in the itinerary. We loved the new design of our cabin. The closet was a more workable shape, the bathroom huge, the drawer space beyond adequate, and the bed facing the sea delightful. The redistribution of restaurant space between the venues was a welcome change as was the variety of venues offering ...

Windstar Spendor of Spain

Review for Wind Surf to Spain

We choose this cruise because of the ports and we had never been on Windstar. We assumed it was a sailing ship because of the masts we saw in ports. Shortly after boarding we were told that one of our excursion was canceled due to Ramadan in Tangier. Did the cruise line not know, because it was advertised on their website for months, and one of the reasons we booked the cruise. The city of ...

Review for La Belle de Cadix to Spain

From the moment we arrived and were warmly greeted by Susana to when we departed we enoyed this cruise on the Guadalquivir river. Cabins on La Belle de Cadix, although small with minimal storage space, are clean and comfortable, especially the beds, and with large picture windows on the upper deck which we selected. The public areas are also comfortable. The dining room is on the lower deck, very ...

Review for Viking Star to Spain

Other than a snag with our wifi and TV, the trip was wonderful. The tech person was very nice and tried, but it took a few days to get it working. Our cabin stewards were so sweet they replaced a tattered paper i was using for a bookmark with a Viking bookmark. All of the staff was very friendly, helpful, and smiling. One staffer even stopped and showed me how to lighten my pictures on my ...

Review for Marina to Spain

We booked our trip through a travel agent who strongly advised cruising on one of Oceania's new ships. Thankfully, they made advanced reservations in the restaurants. Our meal at Ginger ended with us walking out of the dining room when our entree had not been served in a little over 1 1/2 hours. This through the wait staff in a tail spin. They followed us saying that our meal was now being cooked. ...
