I have been on 21 cruises, 11 with Celebrity and 10 with RCCL, so I know how Celebrity standards should be and what they weren't on this cruise. The Constellation was built in 2002 and it shows. She is going into refurb in March 2020, but only for cosmetic updates and not mechanical fixes. In the meantime, Celebrity is doing NOTHING to keep the ship in good condition. There is visible rust everywhere, the furnishings around the ship are very worn, the balcony furniture looks like it came from a garage sale.

For room service one morning, I was served moldy berries. Gross! The room service food was hit or miss, but mostly missed the mark for quality, accuracy of the order, and hot food.

The cabins on deck 11 are Aqua Class, and they are not part of the original design. The rooftop terrace with the outdoor movie theater is directly above these rooms and they have movies blaring 12 hours a day, every day, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and you can hear the noise from the balcony but not from inside the room. This was a really bad idea to shove Aqua Class rooms in this location.

Aqua Class Balcony

I have attached a picture of the water coming into room 1119 with a bucket to catch the water. This is a testament to the poor condition of the ship. The theater noise on Deck 12 is unbearable and there is no peace and quiet on your balcony from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The fancy shower jets are very old and don't stream water evenly. The mattress is soggy soft and the room furnishings are grungy and worn out. The Aqua Class rooms were not part of the original ship design and there is a lot of crew noise all the time on Deck 11 and on Deck 12 when they're cleaning.

Celebrity has been slowly stripping away the amenities of Aqua Class and now there's not much difference between Concierge and Aqua, so don't waste your money for the upgrade. Some things they've taken away are the aromatherapy in the room, the cotton balls and Qtips dish, the lip balm and pillow spray. They also don't give you the upgraded fabric tote bag, just the flimsy blue bag that all the rooms receive.

Sicily Life Tours provided a wonderful independent tour of local food tasting and wine tasting at Mt. Etna. Beautiful country up there!
