The best review is....WE BOOKED ANOTHER CRUISE while onboard! Our positives are too many to mention here...glorious sunrises with breakfast on our private veranda are at the top of that long list! Viking is a well-oiled machine...from coordination of airport transportation, embarkation, the fabulous excursion options, how we were organized to exit the ship for excursions, dining options, OMG! We felt spoiled, spoiled, spoiled.
Our only negative was the post-extension in Rome. Going forward, we will consider a pre-extension....the post-extension affected our relaxed mood following the cruise where we were spoiled, but I’m sure that was the hustle and bustle of Rome. Wish Viking had offered us excursions in advance in Rome during the post-extension trip just as they did during the cruise as all cruise excursions were excellent. Of the two Viator tours that we booked on our own in Rome, one was phenomenal and one was a disappointment (the most expensive one!).
The group dinner on our last night in Rome, that our Viking rep at the hotel coordinated after our arrival in Rome, was a night to remember, so.... more of that please. I personally needed to pre-arrange in advance to assure we took full advantage of our short time in Rome. So, giving us advance options for Rome through Viking would have been preferred. I heard a few others on the cruise who were also in the post-extension trip say the same.
Like a Five star hotel. Fabulous bathroom and wonderful views from private veranda.
Our most favorite guide. It was the included excursion...walk around town. Favorite part was that church...OMG.
Tour of the Olive tree farm was incredible....trees hundreds, thousands of years old.
Incredible views from Savoca and those hairpin turns going up and down that mountains in a motor coach...wow!
Pompeii was HOT, but Roberto our 85 year old tour guide was fabulous! He made that excursion even more memorable. He was SO knowledgeable.
Sorrento too busy for me and Pompeii was HOT, but Roberto our 85 year old tour guide was fabulous! He made that excursion even more memorable.
