We selected this cruise, our third Viking Cruise, because of the great experiences we had on our iking Mekong River and Seine River cruises. From the moment we stepped aboard the Idi, a beautifully decorated boat as well as well laid out/designed we felt we were on a "special boat". Our treatment expectations from the crew were quickly exceeded. Every crew member we encountered always gave us the impression they were enjoying their job, which made us enjoy our cruise even more (no negative vibes).
Within 24 hours of being aboard the wait staff were calling us by our names and remembering our drink preferences. Such treatment made us quickly "fell at home among friends". They listened when we told them about ourselves and would bring up bits of that information when they conversed with us. For example, I am a retired Navy Captain. So, every time a staff member greeted me they would greet me as "Captain", which for me was greatly appreciated.
The excursions are quite entertaining, well planned, and focus on highlights of each place we were berthed. For excursions all we had to do was queue on time and bring our listening device. Easy!
Cabin 304 was effectively laid out with a separate sitting room, bedroom, head, and veranda. Furnishings are smart, modern, Scandanavian style. Seating in the sitting room was comfortable. The veranda was equipped with two outdoor chairs and a small table. More than sufficient for relaxing on before dinner.
The bed was firm, yet comfortable. There is sufficient storage space in the suite, a cabinet (with a safe) and a table surface in the sitting room. Suitcases can be placed under the bed. The closet is compact (to be expected aboard a boat) but does include drawers for clothes storage. On each side of the bed are night tables (and wall outlets) which provide additional storage.
