We chose this cruise because of the itinerary and also as we had enjoyed a previous Viking river cruise. Unfortunately this cruise did not live up to expectations. To start with the captain had hit the flood gates coming through the River Thames and damaged an engine which could not be fixed until we reached Bergen. This slowed us down considerably so in some ports our times were shortened. The ship itself was actually very nice to look at and decorated well but this cruise was totally lacking in energy. It felt soulless. The entertainment was not up to standard and very repetitive and the food average and very bland. All of the ports were very nice but unfortunately most of the "included" shore excursions that we went on were very boring with most of the time being spent on the coach. Our balcony cabin was smaller than on other cruise lines with not enough storage space but the bathroom was very nice with a heated floor and the bed was very comfortable. The saving grace was the fantastic crew who were so friendly, fun and went out of their way to give superb service, Overall a very disappointing experience and I will not cruise Viking Ocean again as we have sailed on much more enjoyable cruise lines in all price categories.
