We choose this cruise to see South Africa. We have sailed many times before with RCCL and Celebrity.
We knew within minutes this would be our first and last Azamara cruise. This did not change as the cruise progressed.

Crew as always is very friendly and available but found our room stewards did not clean up to AZ standards.
Our butler was excellent and followed up on the poor cleaning crew as did Philip the hotel director.
The room also is looking worn as some wallpaper is peeling.
The food is standard AZ as not bad at all but not gourmet.

I judge this cruise against my previous Crystal Serenity trip, a few years back.
The old ship felt old despite the recent expensive makeover/dry dock.
At times I thought there was an odd vibration even on deck 8 fwd. For sure when you eat at the back of the ship on deck 11 you are likely in for movement.

By comparison with 4.5 company such as Oceania and 4 star cruise company such as Princess or Holland, we do not consider silversea as a 5 Star cruising for the following reasons;
- at least 50% of the staff are not easy to approach, they are not smiling and it looks like we disturb them
