NCL is really cutting back
"Which made coordinating any non-NCL tours more difficult, and even if you were on NCL cruises, the tours had to be rushed so badly it was more like a bus ride with extremely short stops off the bus to go right back on the bus with no free time in order to accommodate the shorter port times.Zakynthos the tenders were probably only running an hour or an hour and a half behind, but it was long enough that being in Tender group 10 rather than 9 this time, made us late enough that we missed our non-NCL tour, because several people had prebought status on the tenders, and most of the others had group 9, but between 9 and 10 a bunch of NCL tours bumped the tender line and a big group from Haven bumped the line so our tour left without us...."Read More

We choose this cruise to visit as many places possible in Greece. Having the opportunity to visit, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro and Turkey were a bonus for us. The ship , the entertainments, the food, the atmosphere and the staff were amazing !. We like NCL and we will highly recommend this cruise line to anyone that would like to have options and relax in a good environment. Everything ...

Not the sparkle I expected

I choose this cruise for the ports and price. The airport transfer from Civitavecchia-Rome to the bus was chaos. Individuals were checked in and then it took an hour before you were led to the bus. All the time airport officials were constantly redirecting where you should go, after the two ladies checked you in for arrival. Once on the boat, we were told we needed an E-Visa for Turkey. This ...

Itinerary and ports. We choose this cruise based on Itinerary. But in the weeks leading up to the cruise, NCL republished the time of the port stops, and I think all but the stops in Turkey had the time reduced in port. Which made coordinating any non-NCL tours more difficult, and even if you were on NCL cruises, the tours had to be rushed so badly it was more like a bus ride with extremely ...

Excellent cruise to Pyramids and Istanbul

The itinerary was great starting Rome and including Taormina Sicily, Rhodes, Egypt and Turkey. Unfortunately Israel was missed due to the tragic conflict at time of cruise. The ship doesn't have the latest amusements or slides so not great for children and the passengers were generally older than usual on this itinerary. The cabin we had was small with an obstructed lifeboat view on deck 8. We ...

Lackluster experience on 11 day Gem Cruise

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Gem

I chose this cruise primarily because of the itinerary stopping in Spain and Portugal. It was our first cruise on Norwegian. We were immediately struck with how crowded the buffet area was and lack of any seating. We never did find seating in the buffet area the entire 11 day trip. We sat in the Italian specialty restaurant or out by the pool. We tried sit down breakfasts several mornings and the ...

It was my first time in Norvegian company. I had already made many cruises with most of other companies (such as costa; royal carebean, celebrity, princes etc). This was the one which I didnot like much. Ship was ok. It was renovated in a good condition. has 4,5 stars. I always get balcony stateroom (since I am a little claustrophobic). This was normal BA cathegory but ıt was the smallest one I ...

Staff were the best

DH and I had a cruise booked June 2020. It was cancelled, this was us finally making up for it. To be honest I am glad that we waited, apart from a few staff members wearing masks, there were no enforced social distancing measures. We added a day in Bologna to the trip which made the arrival in Italy easy. There was then a 4 hour journey to Trieste. This was further Faffed up by long ...

Terrible food, average service. NCL has gone downhill since COVID

We choose this cruise as we had previously sailed on the Norwegian Dawn in Nov 2019 and whilst it wasn't the best, we sailed on NCL again as we found a good offer. This cruise was very poor. The service was terrible - only men were treated well and addressed as sir and acknowledged at bars. Every time I smiled or spoke to bartenders, they were cold or served others first. Everyone seemed to have ...

Our first cruise, pleasant surprise!

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Gem

We were thinking of cruising for a few years, because we liked the idea of waking up at a different destination every morning, without packing and unpacking. But we were a bit hesitant: we live in Hungary, which does not have a sea side, the closest sea port is 500 km away, so cruising is not really a thing here. Hence we don't know many people with first hand cruise experience... We had a lot of ...

Fantastic itinerary & great experience overall

We chose this cruise for the itinerary and dates. The small cruise ship exceeded our expectations. It was not a full cruise, so we never waited in line for anything. The balcony room was a decent size with adequate storage for 2 people. The bathroom had a separate shower and toilet, which was nice. We used most of the facilities, including the gym. The dining facilities were always available. I ...
