14 Night Tokyo to Bangkok cruise on Seven Seas Explorer - in F1 Superior Suite single occupancy.
First time on Regent and chose this cruise for the port variety. Demographic was as you would expect at this price point - over 65, with a real mixture of nationalities - large group of Australians, some New Zealanders and Canadians, good numbers from the UK and Europe, a few from Asia and the ...
We anticipated this cruise that was years in the planning. It was postponed several times due to Covid . Finally, on the fourth attempt at booking this "bucket list" travel event, we succeeded in getting aboard what was touted as an upscale ship rated a 10 for its culinary excellence. Indeed, when we entered our cabin, we were struck by its elegance and cleanliness.
The Regents was a ...
The ports in Japan were outstanding and the time of the year was perfect for us. The weather is also lovely in Japan in October. The stop in South Korea was a great bonus.
The stateroom are worn, dated, and in ill-repair. Our carpeting was buckled and a "trip hazard". Our neighbors' carpet was actually ripped. The furniture had parts of the wood that were worn through the finish. The drawers ...
This was our first experience sailing with Oceania. Overall, it was very enjoyable with a few minor problems I’ll outline later.
Here are the positive points.
Check in was a breeze. We arrived about 2:30pm and were immediately accompanied to the empty immigration and security areas. A few minutes later we boarded and checked in the quiet Insignia Lounge (again zero people waiting) and were ...
We chose Oceania based on their culinary record, service and small size. We have previously cruised on Viking and love their modern ships. R class ships have been beautifully refurbished. We had sailed on Azamara Quest - a similar ship from Renaissance cruises. We joined the last segment of ATW cruise which began in San Francisco on January 2023! While a majority of the ship had been together ...
This was a 10-day itinerary around Japan, and we stayed aboard for nearly three weeks after while the ship sailed across the North Pacific, through the Aleutians and down the Inner Passage to Vancouver.
Excellent cabin, restaurant, and cruise director staff. Entertainment & onboard speakers good (especially Gloeta, the Naturalist).
We booked both Regent's pre-cruise "Vibrant Tokyo" package ...
The cruise experience was good. First I appreciated that everybody was tested for COVID before boarding. Very good food and plentiful including local preparations and fresh fruits, lots of restaurants on board, also lots of activities for all ages, games, music, dancing etc. The personnel always smiling, patient and helpful, the ship clean with good maintenance. The access for the passengers to ...
We chose this cruise so that both my wife & I could experience some places neither of us have been before, and I could revisit a few ports/experiences I enjoyed just under 50 years ago when I was in the Navy.
Embarkation in Tokyo was interesting. Well done, but extremely unique. At the pristine Tokyo Cruise Terminal, we were first received in a large open room where, behind folding tables, ...
The itinerary was the reason for this cruise, even in this time of the year without cherry blossoms or Indian summer colors (too late, too early). It was a time of intense activity as there was another port every day and the climate which was hot and humid made it streneous as well.
We knew the Quest from one other cruise, our other 18 cruises with Azamara we have had with Journey and ...
We chose this cruise for the itinerary, to visit places that would be difficult to get to otherwise. We had previously visited Japan, and one of us had been on an overland trip to Alaska. This was our 6th cruise and our second Regent. We decided to do the more expensive pre-cruise excursion which took in the Mt Fuji area.
The pre-cruise itinerary was quite good, but unfortunately we had a very ...
