Silversea Review
August 2023 Alaskan Cruise, leaving Vancouver, with “Premier” Alaska-Denali Summit post-cruise land package
Ship: Silver Whisper
Ports: Ketchikan, Icy Straight Point, Skagway, Icy Bay, Valdez, Seward
Note: This would have been a five-star review had it not been for the Denali land package
Booking: We booked the Door-to-Door cruise in a deluxe veranda suite through ...
This is a run down ship with tired and overworked employees. There’s no variety and limited spa and excursions. There’s little activity and the same experience everyday. We are a group of 5 and cannot wait to get off. Many others on the cruise feel the exact same way. We missed Icy Bay point/ Strait because we had a medical evacuation. We waited for over 2 hours for a boat and then another hour ...
We didn’t know really what to expect or if the cruise would be too short but it was great from start to finish. This was our second cruise with Silversea in less than a year and we decided on Alaska because we had such a good experience on Silver Spirit in the Med. This ship was even better. While the Spirit was great this updated sistership was slightly better. We stayed in cabin which was ...
PROS:
First and foremost the on ship service was outstanding and the crew very attentive, though understandably on the first day it is a bit chaotic and service is harder to find with everyone running around.
The all inclusive nature (which you of coruse pay for in the fare) makes things very easy.
Once the butler knows your preferences they are quite efficient (it just wont happen day ...
We chose this cruise because it’s supposed to be 6 star luxury & also includes the excursions. Boarding the cruise was seamless & impressive. Suites & ship are beautiful. Service in main restaurants was slow & inconsistent. It seemed everyone was new & inexperienced except a handful which were good. Food was average. We asked for soy milk in the breakfast restaurant & the first 4 days they said ...
We went on this Silversea cruise on the inside passage with my mom for her birthday. I've been on a number of cruises with other cruise lines, but it's been about 6 years since we last cruised. I had high expectations with Silversea because it was billed as a luxury cruise and expected more.
Overall, we had a great time. Ports were nice and the crew were very nice. It was nice being in a ...
I chose this cruise because the 7 day itinerary fitted in with a trip to Vancouver, Alaska and Seattle of nearly 4 weeks. And it went to 4 ports, whereas the premium lines only went to 3 ports in 7 days. And it had a lot fewer people, which is a great bonus. We booked in 2018 for 2020 (postponed to 2022) so we paid probably half of what it would have cost this year.
This was our first ocean ...
The cruise just prior to ours was apparently the cruise from hell (see previous reviews) with ship breakdown, missed ports and time delays. Thankfully everything seemed to be corrected for our departure. Other than today's typical airline horror stories, which we just barely missed, we arrived in Vancouver at 4:30 in the morning, of departure day. Therefore, our free day in the departure city ...
Alaska cruise from Vancouver to Seward - a fantastic way to see Alaska! However - the actual cruise was disappointing. The "entertainment" on board was outdated and like a high school talent hour. It was so bad that it was laughable. The restaurant choices were poor, the only variety offered from the on board restaurants required a supplemental charge. The complimentary house wines were ...
We had heard excellent reports on Silverseas from friends who had travelled with them. So when we decided to take a cruise to Alaska they were the obvious choice. The cruise was delayed by one say due to problems on the previous cruise. There was little or no information provided by the company and no member of staff from Silverseas came to the hotel where the majority of the passengers were ...
