Lovely cruise to Alaska - is it ultra-luxury?
"Bus tour of Mendenhall Glacier and Mt Roberts Tramway in Juneau (included) was far too rushed, and the driver only gave us 70 mins at Glacier, not 90 mins as promised in blurb, so we nearly had to run to make it to the waterfall and back (in the pouring rain, no fun).Otherwise we booked our own private tours: with Jayleen's Whale Watching in Juneau - ok, not many whales, was an ok employee guide, not Jayleen herself as we had expected, and Paul of Gallant Adventures in Sitka - brilliant fun and loads of whales and other creatures to see, very good tour...."Read More

Much less than luxury

The SilverSea experience was poor, very poor. Starting with the booking experience. The “consultant” provided no guidance, information or value. Matter of fact, I would have been better off if there was an online booking option. As an example, we ended up booking a $500 transfer from Anchorage to Seward because we weren’t told about no cost SilverSea transport options. Then the ...

First time...and possibly last...on Silversea

We recently booked a last-minute trip on the Silver Muse from Seward to Vancouver. For context, we've sailed Seabourn 5 times, most recently last month on the Venture, as well as trips on Celebrity and once on Disney. We REALLY wanted to like Silversea to have a good alternative to Seabourn, but this was not a good experience. Embarkation - Process was a breeze, and we were actually the ...

We didn’t know really what to expect or if the cruise would be too short but it was great from start to finish. This was our second cruise with Silversea in less than a year and we decided on Alaska because we had such a good experience on Silver Spirit in the Med. This ship was even better. While the Spirit was great this updated sistership was slightly better. We stayed in cabin which was ...

A step down from perfection

This was my third Silversea cruise and my first ever time to Alaska. I chose to do the Denali extension ahead of the 7 night cruise, then two nights in Vancouver on my own, making this a 2 week trip in total. First, the Denali extension. In my opinion this is completely skippable, and I was not impressed with much about the 4 night trip. The Captain Cook hotel is charming from a decor/history ...

Cruise PRO's: Silver Suite was wonderfully spacious and well equipped; you get what you pay for. Butler was excellent, and anticipated every need; you get what you pay for. Laundry service (complimentary with Silver Suite) was excellent; you get what you pay for. Mini-Bar was well stocked and replenished daily by excellent butler; you get what you pay for Unlimited Wifi ...

We have been cruising with Regent Seven Seas for years but wanted to try Silver Sea for this trip. The ship did not disappoint. While there are fewer suite options and the Muse is a very small ship, the number and variety of restaurants and service staff really made this a near equal with the super luxurious Regent ships. We were in Suite, which was a great location. Our butler and house ...

Outstanding on board service, awful administrative support and planning

PROS: First and foremost the on ship service was outstanding and the crew very attentive, though understandably on the first day it is a bit chaotic and service is harder to find with everyone running around. The all inclusive nature (which you of coruse pay for in the fare) makes things very easy. Once the butler knows your preferences they are quite efficient (it just wont happen day ...

Silver Muse is a beautiful ship but……

We chose this cruise because it’s supposed to be 6 star luxury & also includes the excursions. Boarding the cruise was seamless & impressive. Suites & ship are beautiful. Service in main restaurants was slow & inconsistent. It seemed everyone was new & inexperienced except a handful which were good. Food was average. We asked for soy milk in the breakfast restaurant & the first 4 days they said ...

We went on this Silversea cruise on the inside passage with my mom for her birthday. I've been on a number of cruises with other cruise lines, but it's been about 6 years since we last cruised. I had high expectations with Silversea because it was billed as a luxury cruise and expected more. Overall, we had a great time. Ports were nice and the crew were very nice. It was nice being in a ...

We recently returned from an Alaska cruise on the Silver Muse. We wanted a really nice experience for our family…Silversea most certainly delivered! We loved the food! Not every meal was sensational, but every meal was really good. A few of our meals were sensational…most notably our meals at Silver Note and Kaiseki. We found the excursions to be well run and of great quality. There was ...
