Silversea Silver Cloud Expedition ship

Review for a Africa Cruise on Silver Cloud Expedition

First Time Cruiser • Age 70s

A vacation that started off excellent turned bad! We started on a 2 day extension to Shamwari Game Reserve which was super. After a last morning safari drive we left for the ship where we were kept standing around for hours while they supposedly disinfected the ship. People still got sick whether from the ship literally bouncing around in the ocean or norvo virus I can't say. The ship is so old ...

The crew and staff were excellent, but they can only work with what Silversea / Royal Caribbean (RC) gives them. Compared to the old days, I can see cheaper RC corp creeping in; examples: the wines that are being poured, the linens, the ports of call, food was good, but not great, etc. The silver cloud needs to go into dry dock and be refurbished. The bath rooms are small and the shower is ...

Essentially a reposition cruise, Artic to Antarctic. At sea days punctuated with short drive-by visits to out-of-the-way locations where there little to see or do.

This was essentially a reposition cruise, Artic to Antarctic, but was not advertised as such. Ship is old and very much showing her age, significant water leak into observation lounge during rain storms, several cabins flooded due to air conditioning leaks, many areas of ship were quite warm on hot days. Too many stops, for too little time at each stop, focus was on quantity not quality. At ...

Premium price but not premium service and food

We booked this cruise 3 years ago before COVID hits. We finally got to go after many cancel, and price increase. May be we had bad luck, regardless, the Silverseas did not make it right for us. Overall it was disappointing for us. On the day we start the journey, we loss a pre-cruise hotel night to tour and rest due to tornado at Dallas, notice was last minute just hours before boarding ...

Great time with the expedition but sub-par hotel services

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Silver Cloud Expedition

This was my first time on an expedition cruise. Overall, it was a memorable trip, having a chance to get showed by an enthusiastic expedition team in this pristine part of the world. In fact, the expedition team was the highlight of this cruise. They were resourceful, upbeat and passionate. The itinerary of activities was diverse, from cruising along the ice edge, hiking the glacier, to doing a ...

This is not the same Silversea as before the sale to Royal Caribbean

I did two back to back, supposedly expedition, cruises from London to Svalbard. After many years of traveling almost exclusively with Silversea, I am heartbroken to join the other reviewers who say, "Never again." The cruise was supposed to be on the Wind. Silversea changed it to the Cloud after I had booked. I am a long time Explorer passenger, a wonderful ship that they have now sold ...

Overall disappointing and overpriced. Will not sail Silversea again. Pros: Attentive Butler Good Food 24 hour room service Cons: Ship is 28 years old. Really old ship (maiden voyage 1994), should be retired Overpriced for what you get No entertainment or planned on-board activities = bored most of the time TV and movies not available most of the time Very few dining ...

Over 30% of crew with COVID caused cancelled services

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Silver Cloud Expedition

Over 30% of the crew has COVID resulting in: 1. No kayak program - on of the main activities I wanted to participate in on this trip. 2. Only offered 5 out of 12 expeditions 3. Buffet service all but 3-4 days of the trip and 2 of 4 restaurants closed. One for the entirety of the trip and one for all but 4 days. 4. Remaining staff all were extremely nice and helpful but very overworked ...

Disappointing on too many levels

This was meant to be a once in a lifetime experience but I am going to have to have a "do-over" My cruise was fraught with disappointments. Some were unavoidable such as ice blocking short cuts through passages (totally acceptable and probably expected to a certain degree on an expedition cruise). We even had to turn around early to go through the Drake passage 2 days early out of concern for a ...

Not an Expedition and full of COVID!

We chose Silversea for our Antartica Expedition cruise because it had good reviews. It was an expensive cruise, but we were excited to see the White Continent. It was not easy to travel because of the restrictions, but my husband and I decided that it was worth it. We self quarentined 10 days prior to the trip, not wanting to risk infection and the possibility of missing this "trip of a ...
