Scenic has just started in the luxury cruise business and it shows. Rating Scenic with the "top tier" cruise lines, they come in dead last. Food was just so so, cabin was a nightmare, entertainment was bare bones, and most of the land tours were boring. Service could be good at times and the staff was friendly.

The first night - pre-cruise hotel was the Red Lion in Portland, Oregon as selected by American Cruise Lines. This hotel was dated and dirty. We had to change rooms to get one that didn't smell like cigarettes. A lot of homeless people surround the area. Not the type of accommodations you would expect for the amount of money spent on the cruise.
