11 Day Adriatic Dream - Fabulous!!

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Nieuw Statendam

Selected itinerary for the ports and ability to spend a few days in Rome. Embarkation was the BEST, easiest, fastest we've ever experienced. We were boarded and eating lunch in MDR a full hour before our check in time. For a ship going into dry dock, we did experience any maintenance related issues or ration shortages. There was no visible work being done in the areas where we walked. May have ...

My husband and I are in our 40's. This was our 5th HAL cruise, but it was our first time back with them since the pandemic. Our last HAL cruise was on the Koningsdam in the Caribbean, and we loved it! We were excited to try out her sister ship in European waters. PRE-CRUISE We spent 4 nights at an Airbnb near Termini in Rome. This was our 4th time in the Eternal City, so we skipped the major ...

Disappointed

Good points - The ship is fairly new and well appointed. - The service staff are very friendly and try very hard. - Food quality is good. The bad points - Organisation on the ship is sub standard. - The Lido kept some really strange hours - for example closing for diner at 8:30 pm which one would expect is peak time Really bad points - For the first half of the cruise ...

I loved the staff, the service and honestly the maintenance of the ship is overall very good. I would give them 4.5 to 5 stars in most cases. The ship however is old from the perspective of activities and value. Activities are very limited compared to other vessels both in terms of physical offerings such as recreational opportunities but also in terms of creativity. Other ships have mini ...

we picked this cruise because of the destinations, (although we have been to all except one before) have cruised with HAL before so knew what to expect. always thought that the entertainment on board HAL was very poor but this particular one was awful. it consisted of the on board singers, dancers, piano players, bands doing what they normally do in their normal venues but on stage. one night ...

Lacking usual niceties

Had a week on this ship. Have done 4 previous HAL cruises and 25 others. The ship is beautiful and the theatre amazing. However. Covid protocols were not strictly enforced. No one waiting to sanitise your hands when you got back on the ship. Your choice to do it or not. Same at the entrance to all the dining destinations. We did a Celebrity cruise in January and they were hot on hand ...

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Nieuw Statendam

I travelled solo and had air arranged through Flight Ease. I was booked on a direct flight from ATL to FCO. It was a long flight and upon arrival at FCO, found my luggage and headed to find the HAL rep for transfer to the ship. Now, coming off a nine hour flight, with little sleep, and feeling stiff from not being in the most comfortable position for the flight, I was a little cranky and a lot ...

We chose this cruise to finish our two month itinerary of 4 cruise ships, on 4 different cruise lines, from NYC to England, Europe, and the Mediterranean. We did not want jet lag so the final cruise was a crossing after a few stops in Spain and the Azores. The ship is new and beautiful. The crew and staff were efficient, friendly and wonderful. The captain did a great job dodging bad weather and ...

First ever cruise

This was the first cruise I had ever been on as I had always been resistant to cruising. We picked the ship and itinerary carefully and I liked the idea of travelling on a fairly new ship. As hoped the Nieuw Statendam was a stunning looking ship and the public areas all looked luxurious. The cabin was a little smaller than I expected, but was well layed out and very modern. The shower ...

Nice ship, Pretty intense crowd

Pretty ship with wrap-around teak promenade deck where you can walk for hours. We were in a Neptune suite, so embarkation usually easier for suite guests. Neptune lounge personnel and coffee very good. The food in the Lido and DR on HAL is average at best. We almost always ate in the Lido because the restaurant is a hassle for us (we don't tend to linger over dinner) and the food is no better. ...
