we were delighted when we joined the cruise in Whittier, the send-off was with fireworks and it was great to see. The sail down to Skagway was quite nice too but it was always quite misty on the shores so we were unable to see much. However Glacier bay was spectacular and the ship did go very slow for pictures and stuff. The activities on board were not so great, the prices of alchohol at meals ...
Our family flew from Eastern Canada to Los Angeles, where we spent a few days before boarding the Sapphire Princess. In L.A. we stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn at the edge of Beverly Hills; this was a great choice, as it was convenient to our sightseeing and fully equipped for relaxing without getting in each other's hair every evening. After a very busy day we were all happy to get stuff ...
The ship itself has a difficult lay-out. No gorgeous artwork like other lines.Cabin is tiny (with no sofa). Food completely mediocre. The Buffet had very little food displayed.Soups were lackluster at best. Great beef in the Steakhouse (but why should you have to go to a specialty restaurant every nightto get a descent meal)?I'm disappointed that they've cut the Production Shows to 35 mins. ...
Arrived one day early in LA before the cruise. Stayed at the LAX Marriott. My wife chose this against based on the fact that Princess was offering a transfer from the hotel to the ship. Nice enough property but the location is poor if you want to sight see without renting a car. Cab fare to Hollywood was approx. $55. We took a the #3 bus to Santa Monica. The cost was $2 and took about 35 minutes. ...
Sapphire Princess Wine Country Coastal Cruise May 12-19, 2012 (Saturday to Saturday)-7 days, 6 ports
EMBARKATION
No staggered boarding that I was aware of. I arrived at the terminal at 12:30pm, need to show boarding pass & passport, filled out a health form, went up escalator, went to Platinum line and turned in boarding pass and health form, changed onboard credit card, then went through ...
We had taken a flight into Seattle that arrived around 11 AM, and took the light rail to the Westlake Center - easy, and about 30 minutes. It is a longish walk from the baggage carousels but level, and well sign posted.
We left our suitcases at the Mayflower Park Hotel (with some discussion - we had e-mailed but they couldn't find it) since we were staying there on the return from Vancouver ...
We took this cruise as a quick weekend getaway to, well, get away from the teenagers. We took the Amtrak Cascades train down to Seattle from Vancouver the evening before which I found to be a very enjoyable way to get down there. We left at 545 pm and arrived in Seattle right around 10 pm. We had a Doubletree hotel room booked through Priceline near the airport for a very good price so all in all ...
I was really looking forward to this cruise, since we have travelled to all of our ports and could really relax. This was our 16th Princess cruise and 19th overall. The ship is beautiful and well maintained. The carpet looked new and the furniture was in great condition. The Sapphire will be dry docked in September to add Movie Under the Stars and the Piazza in the Atrium as well as the Sanctuary ...
Overview - This was our ninth cruise with Princess in eight years, and our second Pacific Coastal Cruise, as we did a northern bound coastal cruise on the Star Princess in 2002. I hate to have to say this, but we have found the over-all quality decreasing over the last five years, and we keep on booking our next cruise with Princess, in hopes that maybe the cruise we just were on was an anomaly, ...
VERY PLEASED WITH THE SAPPHIRE PRINCESS PACIFIC COASTAL CRUISE
OVERVIEW: The Sapphire Princess is a beautiful ship that has one of the best staffs of any cruise we have been on. This was our 15th cruise, the fourth on Princess. We had done this cruise two years earlier on the Sapphire's twin, the Diamond Princess.
EMBARKATION: We arrived at the terminal at 11:00 am with gentlemen ...
