Queen bed. Note the drawers on the right. They could not open the whole way because they were so close to the bed.

Just Don’t Do It!

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Pacific Explorer

We chose this cruise as it was just a short 5 day crossing from Auckland to Melbourne and after reading previous reviews we thought well just how bad can it be ……. Unfortunately it was very bad, the ship on the outside is a rust bucket, our balcony was tiny and filthy, the chairs were so dirty you couldn’t sit on them without putting a pool towel on them. Inside areas are better, bright, clean ...

Great Shows, but not much else.

We chose this cruise for the convenience of accompanying friends who had never done a cruise before. The shows were top-notch, though it was strange to have to pay to see two of the specialty shows. It was nice to have three different themed dining rooms on the ship, but the food was mediocre, with upcharges on half of the menus for each restaurant. The ship needs major maintenance, with broken ...

We choose the cruise because it was affordable , looked good, and going to part of the pacific I had heard of as being great to visit. Wife and I found the cabins just as we imagined. Small but had all we needed. Our door opened out onto a small balcony which gave lots of fresh air and a great view at sea. The food is really good. The pantry has plenty of variety. They change every day. You ...

Pacific Island Hopper without much Island hopping

We chose this cruise as it left from and returned to Auckland. So no need to fly. We wanted to show our girls a taste of the islands. Normally cruise Princess. But this cruise fitted in with school holidays and our not wanting to fly anywhere. Had a pretty good time despite the weather not being the greatest. As a result we missed the 2 tender ports due to weather and also having to ...

Didn't go to where they said we would go

This was our 5th cruise with P&O over a period of 40 years. This will be our last. The standard has slipped dramatically after covid. It was our 20th Wedding Anniversary and we told P&O this when booking. Nothing was done to help us celebrate. Not even a card! Everything is aimed to get as much money off you as they can. Even a tour around the Ship to show you the galley and internal running of ...

Choose because of the deals really. Quality and service was next to none. Nothing was too much trouble! Food was plentiful and delicious. Choice of Pantry, which was sort of like a food hall, but included in price was choice of three amazing restaurants. I have been to 5 star restaurants and the service, and some of the food, was on par. We were treated like royalty. The captain kept us updated ...

Worst Cruise Ever

I've cruised before (even on P&O's sister companies) and can honestly say that P&O is the worst cruise line. First of all, their customer service needed multiple calls to change incorrect information they had put in our booking. The Pacific Explorer is a 1997 old rust bucket that is dated and has mold and damp smells on most decks. There are also other foul smells which goes through the main pool ...

After the long-awaited return to cruising post-Covid, our experience aboard the ship had its ups and downs, leaving us with mixed feelings. Despite the challenges, the staff remained exceptional, providing their usual warm and attentive service that made our voyage enjoyable. The onboard shows were a highlight, offering a delightful array of entertainment to cater to various tastes. From ...

We Loved Our Cruise

We are a couple in our early 60s, having just recently retired. We embrace everything about cruising – meeting like-minded people, the drinks, the food, live music/shows, sightseeing on and off the ship, activities on offer etc etc, all from the convenience of a short walk from your cabin. This was our first cruise since lockdowns, and easing back with a short 4 night voyage between Melbourne ...
