Nice common areas on deck - appreciated the stage area in a central spot that was consistent with music and entertainment throughout sea days and in the afternoons as cruisers were returning to the ship.

Never Again

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

having sailed with NCL before on a Hawaii cruise I was keen to do a back to back Med cruise with them. I have cruised around 20 times with Princess, P and O, Holland America, Saga, Thompson, My Cruises etc. and I have never been so dissatisfied. The food was awful and though the menus sound good in the restaurant it arrives late and cold and incorrectly served. I.E. all breakfast choices served ...

We chose the NCL Mediterranean Cruise because we like to get the most for our money. We traveled during the shoulder season when it is a little cooler, and the prices are cheaper. The up-side is you have fewer tourists, and you are able to "negotiate" with the vendors because they have fewer people shopping at one time. On shore excursions, we used private tours in Greece and Turkey and Viator ...

A memorable 10 days on the beautiful Jewel

My goal this time around is to keep this short and sweet — or at least shorter than most of my previous reviews. :) I don't believe reviews that are all glowing or all scathing, so you'll find a mix here. The bottom line is that anything that momentarily annoyed me or compared unfavorably to past cruises did not affect my overall appreciation of this cruise at all. This was a wonderful trip, the ...

A jewel of a cruise!

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Norwegian Jewel, Feb 21-28 2009. My ninth cruise, third with NCL. It took something like 15-20 minutes from the time we took our luggage out of the car at the Miami Cruise Terminal until we got to our stateroom. That was the fastest screening, registration and embarkation I've ever seen! We had an interior stateroom, impeccably clean, but I was a little bit disappointed by the furniture. The ...

We had a great time, even with our 2 year old

We were very please with our cruise on the Norwegian Jewel. We traveled with our parents, another couple and most importantly our two year old. I was very please that the ship was a younger crowd and one that would not mind a toddler rubbing shoulder (ankles) with them. We stayed in the 3 bedroom Garden Villa and were treated very well. The embarkation process was extremely smooth as there was ...

Baltic Capitals on the Norwegian Jewel: 4 July 2008 Ahoy. This is my first review and only my second cruise, so I only have RCCL to compare it with. On that cruise, I was struck by the number of complaints in the tenders about how Princess did this better, Holland America did that better, RCCL's tender operations did not measure up to P&O's, etc. Having met great people, received good service ...

We joined our son and daughter in law on this cruise and other than being on Norwegian in Hawaii, we always have chosen to cruise with either Crystal and Celebrity. We were hesitant to take this cruise because of many negative comments posted on the boards. As always a cruise experience is what you make it. Embarkation in Athens - We were approached by the concierge so our embarkation was ...

We just returned from an Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on the Norwegian Jewel and loved it. Our flight from Boston was smooth and there were no hitches as far as luggage was concerned. Embarkation was fairly easy and we were on the ship by 1 P.M. We had the opportunity to get an upgrade to a Penthouse which we took. We were in the stern section so there were no strong breezes when we opened the ...

My husband and I decided to go on a kid-free vacation this year as the kids were old enough, and my parents young enough to look after them! We'd always wanted to go on Star Clippers, and since we've been to several Caribbean destinations, opted for the Mediterranean. We were mainly interested in Greece. However, our travel agent pointed out that for about the same price as a week with Star ...

We booked this cruise for the itinerary, even though we had visited most ports of call before. We did hesitate about booking with NCL, as we are big fans of Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. We still have mixed feelings about the Freestyle Dining. It is great to have the choice of restaurants on the Jewel and to be able to turn up at either of the main dining rooms at any time in the evening. ...
