NCL Getaway - A Debacle on the Open Seas

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

Destinations was top of mind as we explored the many choices of cruise lines. A Caribbean cruise was our top choice with as many ports as possible. Norwegian Cruise Line Getaway offered a 9-day cruise to the Dominican Republic, Saint Thomas, Saint Maarten, Antigua, San Jaun Porta Rico and of course the NCL private island in the Bahamas. With only 2 full days at sea, it seemed the best value for ...

First and probably last NCL cruise

We chose this cruise to try the NCL brand, the itinerary, and felt at the time, it was a good price. We enjoyed the size of our cabin and the view. We were in an accessible cabin (137** forward) due to my husband having mobility issues. With that being said, we were too far from the elevators and with items almost always left in the narrow hallways, my husband had to fold up his walker many times ...

NCL is unfortunately diminishing their brand and their product, which is most evident on this particular ship. The Getaway has no show band or orchestra, the production shows are old and few and far between. The cruise director could be heard introducing theater entertainers remotely, but was rarely seen before the shows, so there was no prep for the next day's port procedures. The authentic ...

My wife and I took a cruise with Norwegian. The last cruise we were on included a balcony stateroom. The photos of the room we booked with Norwegian showed a couch in front of a fairly large square window. You could sit comfortably and watch out the window. We booked it, we paid for it. When we got to our stateroom the layout of the room was completely different. It did have the square window, but ...

If you enjoy waiting in line for 45minutes for dinner, this ship is for you. If you like to arrive for a show, and wait in line 45 minutes before it starts, this ships for you. I knew we were in trouble whenwe embarked for our 12 day cruise out of NY and had to make reservations for dining and shows for the entire cruise on the first day. There are 16 bars on this ship, I counted, my husband and I ...

It's basically a scam. I went with my wife, we also invited my sister in love and her husband. We are all in our 30's. We bought the package free at sea that was suposed to include wifi and free drinks. It was a black friday promotion. The web page said it was free, but this is NOT true. Embarking and disembarking: A total nightmare! I do not know why you have to choose a time when you ...

We were looking forward to this cruise out of NYC, but we’re very disappointed right from the embarkation, we arrived on a buss supplied by Norwegian, they kept everyone on the bus for almost 45 min., from there we had to find our way to a holding area with a couple of hundred other passengers for an hour and a half with No Norwegian staff to give us any guidance. When we finally got on the ship ...

Friends chose the NCL cruise out of NYC and since I had cruised many times with NCL I was happy to join them. Sadly my experience on this cruise was far below my expectations with NCL. This is what I would consider a no frills cruise. Below is what I experienced on this cruise. 1- Breakfast in the two dining rooms, Savory and Taste were always cold, pancakes, waffles, frenchtoast & coffee. ...

not recommended for people who care about itineraries or families

I can only recommend NCL for cruisers who don’t care about itinerary or who get a deal so low that you won’t be disappointed if NCL cancels the most important ports from your cruise. If you care about itinerary, please be aware of the fact that NCL is changing the itineraries on many sailings after final payment. On this sailing, they cancelled the Dominican Republic and cut out the morning of ...

First off, I would like to say that I cruised NCL Escape in April 2022 which left port in FL. On the Escape, I immediately felt welcomed and the customer service was wonderful! I would not pass by other cruiser or staff on the elevators without everyone saying "Good Morning, Good afternoon, or Good evening.". The buffet was open until 11:30pm which was wonderful for our night owl kids. The ...
