Booked a European cruise that sailed out of Southhampton in October. First the good. The meals were good. The Garden Cafe buffet was actually good with a variety and selection that pleased multiple tastes. We also enjoyed the the food at Cagney's and Moderno. They make good food for specialty diners. The crew were very friendly and attentive to doing great service in housekeeping, food, ...
Norwegian Getaway is a ship that is totally centred on it's mainly USA clientele. We weren't expecting that - for a no-fly cruise from/to Southampton encompassing mainly Northern Europe. There were no concessions to it's UK passengers in terms of catering (no British back bacon - just the dreadful American stuff. No HP sauce, no Marmite, no skimmed milk) Minor niggles I accept - but without ...
Chosen for 16 day Northern Europe itinerary. 3 days of excursions were cancelled due to weather. Ship arrived late at two additional ports. On board activities were crowded, people had to sit on deck for many activities. Restaurant lines were so long they blocked elevator access. Onboard entertainment required reservations for many shows and passengers who attempted to book these on board found ...
As you can see from other reviews, the organization and communication was very rough. I don’t know why. The lines to get on and off the ship and the waiting times were very long. Most staff seemed either unable or unwilling to control the crowds and the lines.
It often felt like neither the crew nor the passengers knew what was going on. For example, the captain cancelled Dublin due to ...
We chose NCL as we'd been on a few cruises before with other companies and have enjoyed them all. We mistakenly thought NCL would be similar.
I would never, under any circumstances travel with this ridiculous company again and would strongly recommend others to avoid them.
The ship is very nice, the staff are mostly approachable with a couple of very notable exceptions the interiors are ...
We completed a northern cruise with two other couples in late September on the NCL Getaway visiting western Europe, Scotland and Iceland. This was our 5th and last NCL cruise
The NCL Getaway had too many passengers and not enough staff. The ship had long lineups for leaving the ship especially when Tendering. Most queues getting off the ship were close to an hour long. I spent 45 mins in one ...
First the one pro is the Staff and Customer Service employees were great, alway helpful and freindly. Actually felt sorry for staff as there were so many comlaints by passengers on this cruise. We cruise 3-4 times a year with usually have wonderful things to report not this time. Everything you do on NCL you either have to pay for, or make a reservation for so always missed out on something. The ...
The following problems occurred prior to and during our cruise. For the record, this was our Anniversary cruise too.
They couldn't schedule our return flight for five days after the cruise, eliminating our ability to take advantage of the buy one get one free Airfare promotion. I ended up paying double for my own airfare. Then to add insult to injury, without speaking to me, one of their ...
One of the main reasons for a cruise is the food. In the past you could get a very good meal without going to a specialty restaurant, that does not look to be the case anymore. This is our 4th cruise and this was the worst food by far, we did not have a good meal in the complimentary restaurants. The complimentary restaurants were subpar with no flavor and low quality. The exception was ...
We have just disembarked from the Norwegian Getaway after our cruise from Venice to Athens. It was my husband and I sailing and our 2 and 5 year old daughters.
We started off the holiday with a wonderful few days in Venice and then on the final day we caught the train from Trieste down to Venice with many other NCL passengers. When we arrived we very quickly realised that there were very few ...
