Lower your expectations, adapt to conjestion, waiting, and mediocre quality, and you might have a halfway decent cruise
"This unnecessarily creates congestion with long lines and anger among passengers); Main dining service was very slow (especially for breakfast, but dinner could also take up to 2 hours); Buffet was always conjested no matter the time of day (they would close down half the buffet on port days and other times, which would create conjestion at the other half of the buffet); Almost no quiet spaces to read or just relax, and there were loud obnoxious guests talking (and woo-ing) loudly everywhere; Cigarette smoking in the casino (which is in the middle of the ship on floor 7) pollutes all of floors 6, 7, and 8, and you have to walk through the casino to get to event spaces and restaurants on floor 7; The spaces with some of the best shows (Syd Norman's, Headliners) are far too small for the events held in there (100 people can fit in Syd Normans for a ship that holds over 3,000 passengers!Pros: Beautiful ship; Spacious oceanview stateroom with plenty of storage and large bathroom (better staterooms than Princess); friendly and quality room steward; casino bartenders were friendly and funny and remembered our drinks; very good entertainment mostly (Million Dollar Quartet was awesome, the comedians were hilarious, there was a fun Michael Jackson/Madonna dance party night, good music in the night club, the band playing in Syd Norman's was excellent); good food in specialty dining (Cagneys, Le Bistro, Ocean Blue - we did speciality 6 times); main dining always had decent food options (though not always hot); Tropicana Room had a nightly show with dinner (if you could catch it at the right time); I really enjoyed my spa service (massage and facial)...."Read More

Great Entourage experience

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

We had never cruised with NCL before and heard lots of great things about this cruise line from friends. This however was not the cruise to have people rave about NCL. We will start with the end first. The ship was delayed getting back into port by 5 hours. The disembarkation was a complete mess, with lines and almost no staff to be seen. People were not following assigned times which created ...

First Cruise - mixed thoughts

This was our first ever cruise. We have traveled many times to resorts in Mexico, Cuba, DR and can only compare those experiences to the cruise. Chose to do a cruise for a new experience and to see countries we have not traveled to. We were a family of 3 - 2 adults and 1 teenager. I watched countless cruise review videos ahead of our trip and felt I was very well prepared. I am now ...

Our favorite vacation is a cruise and have found in the past NCL to be to our liking as we have never encountered any issues until recently. Food, if we hadn't purchased the specialty dining packages (four in total) we would have been very disappointed as the food in the general dining restaurants was very bland and lacked any special flare. On board entertainment and service was very ...

The good and the bad

This ship is big and the reviews weren’t great but I found the food very good with lots of variety and fresh fruit. The shows were excellent but the bad did not outweigh the good. The ship is noisy with no place to sit and read. There was not much to do on sea days, in the evenings there were shows but in the daytime it was just drinking and gambling which I don’t do. We missed the Bermuda ...

First the positives. The staff!! The staff were helpful and friendly. From the dining staff to the room stewards and everyone else. They were so good that I added a tip to my already prepaid tips. My room was comfortable and spacious. I was glad I opted for a large balcony with chaise lounges. The specialty restaurants were good. I enjoyed my meals at the Tropicana, especially with the ...

The ship wasn't the highlight of the trip

My entire family of six sailed on the Getaway to the Caribbean to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We had a great time because it was the first time the family has cruised together, and it was an altogether new experience for my son and grandson. Weather prevented us from visiting Bermuda, but we did get to St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. I ...

I chose to go on Norwegian getaway because I had went a few years prior and the experience was a good one. I decided to take a trip with two of my friends January 27, 2024 not knowing what we were walking into. The staff along with the people vacationing on the boat were not the nicest, this was a 10 day cruise and after being on for a few days and talking to multiple people, we found out that ...

We did a 12 day holiday cruise from NYC to the Caribbean on the Getaway, our second time on this ship. First let me say that we are so very grateful for the folks working over the holidays so we could take a vacation. The good: the Port of NY has the embarkation process down. We registered for an 11 a.m. time, showed up on time and were moved through all lines quickly and smoothly. Once we had ...

we wanted to something different that's why we picked this cruise. Started off bad when norwegian said they don't price match. The food was basic not many new option for a 12 days cruise. The entertainment was boring and the cruise director thought he was a celebrity. Sold out cruise , only open their nightclub Bliss for after party for new year for 4000+ guest. New years party in the cold , no ...
