"That did mess with my sleep pattern, and if I had been even the slightest bit prepared, I would have known that crossing that expanse is going to mean crossing a few time zones. The ship is quite comfortable and this time I was a bit nervous, as my bid for a balcony room was not accepted and for the first time in my half dozen cruises, I was in steerage (5th deck)...."Read More

Good cruise - Service and quality lacking in some areas

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

NCL has been the company of choice in the past due to it's freestyle policy and overall quality and after a patient wait following 3 cancelled cruises due to covid and the war in the Ukraine we were eager to sail again. Over this time costs have inevitably gone up as have the gratuities (more than 100% since our last cruise in 2017). Now we more or less expected this under the current climate but ...

Met Expectations

This was our sixth transatlantic cruise, the second on the Getaway and our eighth overall on an NCL vessel. Our cruise and the Getaway were par-for-the-course meeting expectations. No surprises or unexpected disappointments...It's one of the big ships with all the competitive bells & whistles. The staterooms & bathrooms are clean, somewhat spacious, comfortable and practical. A shortage of ubs ...

Good bye NCL

We chose this cruise because of the Atlantic crossing then stayed onboard beyond Lisbon for the destinations in the Mediterranean (21 day cruise, total). My wife and I are Sapphire members with NCL. We hadn’t cruised with NCL for about 2 years. We have been experiencing the decline of many aspects of NCL cruising for the last 6 or 7 years. Their customer service and food quality has been declining ...

Trans-Atlantic adventure

This was my 2nd cruise on the Getaway, having previously sailed on a 7-night Caribbean cruise. I chose this cruise because of the unique itinerary being very late in the season for a ship to reposition to Europe. As a single, it caught my attention as there was no single supplement. The pre-cruise preparation was simple enough, and entering in all information online went smoothly. ...

Excellent cruise-all worries overstated

We took our first transatlantic cruise and had two rooms for a family of seven. We haven’t cruised since before Covid. Based on the reviews I was quite worried. Concerns were all overstated. I am at a loss for all the negative reviews. As far as I can tell, some people just cannot create their own fun. I was worried about overcrowding. Nothing of the sort. Granted, it was a transatlantic ...

I spent my first Transatlantic cruise onboard the Getaway. I was already familiar with the ship, having taken her a few years ago for an 8-Day adventure through Scandinavia, Russia & the Baltic, which was incredible. The ship is quite comfortable and this time I was a bit nervous, as my bid for a balcony room was not accepted and for the first time in my half dozen cruises, I was in steerage (5th ...

Not a Baltic but Transatlantic

The 14/06/22 departure was not a Baltic cruise but a 13 nights repositioning cruise from Copenhagen to Port Canaveral. On arrival at Copenhagen Airport I was surprised by the very well organised Norwegian meet and greet. It took about one hour before they started transportation to the ship. Some people got nervous, expected huge lines at check in, and preferred to take a taxi. There was no ...

We picked this trip for the itinerary. With 25+ cruises under our belt we never cruised a mega ship. Never again. Lines, lines and more lines. Waited one hour for a show at Syd Norman's. Never got in because it was too crowded.Miami port was a disaster. Mob action mentality. Took 2 hours to have lunch. And even in New Orleans, our luggage was piled all together without any rows to access it. ...

C'mon NCL, you can do much better than that

I've cruised on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and NCL. I've cruised 11 times. This is the most mediocre cruise line I've been on. Let me tell you why... Poor Customer Service at every level - the biggest problem with NCL is their lack of interest in their "staff culture". There is no one setting an example for how to treat customers. On most cruises I've been on, I felt special and pampered. Not ...

NCL DOESN'T CARE ABOUT ITS PASSENGERS

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

User Avatar

It was obvious that NCL management cares only about how much money they can make. For example, the ship stopped in Miami for only a few hours and took on fuel and provisions there. Every passenger had to go through Customs and Immigration and the line took a minimum of three hours to get off and back on. Then they blamed Customs for the delay when the stop was obviously only to benefit the ...
