(11:06 a.m. EST) -- Crystal Cruises released a new self-named phone app giving cruisers the opportunity to explore itineraries pre-cruise or check out onboard activities once on their ship.
"We created the Crystal app to cater to the many savvy travelers who are constantly on the go and appreciate having all the information and choices available at their fingertips, when and where they choose," said Carmen Roig, Crystal's senior vice president of marketing and sales.
The app offers three options: "Explore Crystal," "I Have Not Yet Booked" and "I Am Onboard." The first two give users a variety of ways to check out the worldwide itineraries that Crystal's ships sail, while the latter is only available for us onboard a Crystal ship.
For instance, through the "Explore Crystal" piece of the app, potential cruisers can access the line's library of digital brochures and detailed information about each of the line's brands (Crystal Cruises, Crystal River Cruises, Crystal Yacht Cruises and Crystal Expedition Cruises).
Using the "I Have Not Yet Booked" part of the app, users can navigate the Voyager Finder to find specific sailings. Once they have selected their preferred sailing, they can choose to be connected to a Crystal travel advisor to continue the booking process.
With "I Am Onboard," users can see ship details and deck plans; find out who the ship officers are; view movies, newspapers, magazines and recordings of onboard enrichment presentations; listen to music; and find out about points of interest in destinations they're visiting; and see weather predictions.
The Crystal Cruises app is currently only available for iPhones. An Android version is planned.
