(11:20 a.m. EDT) -- MSC Cruises unveiled new details about MSC Seashore -- the first of MSC's two Seaside EVO vessels, scheduled to debut in 2021 -- at a coin ceremony for the ship at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, on September 19.

MSC Cruises' Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago said, "Today's ceremony marks another key milestone in the construction of one of our most innovative all-around ships yet. Most importantly, MSC Seashore -- which will feature the latest and most advanced environmental technology currently available -- represents another proof of our longstanding commitment to preserve the environment in our ongoing journey to minimize and continuously reduce the impact of our operations."

An enlarged version of MSC's Seaside-class vessels, MSC Seashore will offer 28 additional terraced suites, two new accommodation categories within the line's popular MSC Yacht Club, new adjoining family cabins that can accommodate between six and ten people, 75 cabins for passengers with disabilities, two new dining venues and a new two-deck show lounge situated at the ship's stern.

Other additions to MSC Seashore include an enlarged casino, a redesigned aft pool, an enlarged indoor pool and a new interactive water park.

In a statement, MSC said Seashore will be the longest vessel in the line's fleet at 1,112 feet, offering the highest ratio of outdoor deck space per passenger of any of the line's ships.

MSC has redesigned more than 40 percent of the Seaside-class blueprint to create Seashore, allowing for enhanced passenger flow and more than 32,000 square feet of additional deck space.

MSC Seashore will also incorporate the latest environmental technology. A Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system and an Advanced Wastewater Treatment (AWT) system will be added to reduce emissions by up to 90 percent and to treat wastewater to the point where it is near tap-water quality.

The ship will also be fitted with shore power connectivity, allowing it to connect to local power grids at applicable ports to further reduce emissions.

Other environmental initiatives aboard MSC Seashore include an Exhaust Gas Cleaning System that removes 98 percent of sulphur oxide from funnel emissions, advanced waste management systems, ballast treatment systems approved by the United States Coast Guard, and energy-efficiency improvements that include heat recovery systems and LED lighting.
