Viking Cruises has confirmed the name of its seventh ocean ship, Viking Venus, which will join the fleet in early 2021.

The line's newest 930-passenger ship is set to spend its maiden season in Scandinavia and Northern Europe, sailing popular itineraries including British Isles Explorer, In Search of the Northern Lights, Viking Homelands and Into the Midnight Sun.

Viking will also expand its Mediterranean program offered on sister ship Viking Sky, adding five new itineraries that include stops in Istanbul, marking the company’s return to the city.

Beginning in April 2021, the new seven-night Ancient Mediterranean Treasures will sail between Athens and Istanbul, with overnight stays in both ports. Guests can also choose a longer version of the itinerary such as the 14-night Ancient Adriatic Treasures, between Venice and Istanbul; the 14-night Ancient Mediterranean Antiquities, between Rome and Istanbul; the 21-night Iconic Mediterranean Treasures, between Barcelona and Istanbul; or the 28-night Mediterranean’s Iconic Shores, which also sails between Barcelona and Istanbul and includes stops in Montenegro and Croatia.

Viking has options to build 10 new ships at the Fincantieri shipyard between 2021 and 2027, and two "special" ships with Fincantieri subsidiary Vard in 2021 and 2022.
