Virgin Voyages CEO Tom McAlpin flew into Sydney (on Virgin, of course) to announce a partnership with Travel The World, which will allow the new line’s 18+ cruises to be sold through travel agents in Australia.Launching next year, the 2,750-passenger Scarlet Lady will be based in Miami, sailing Caribbean cruises of four, five or seven nights including a day at Bimini, the private island home of The Beach Club. Another three ships are on order.Speaking at yesterday's Cruise360 conference, hosted by Cruise Lines International Association Australasia, McAlpin did not reveal any plans for itineraries in Australia, New Zealand or the South Pacific. The company's tagline, “An Epic Sea Change for All”, reflects its different style of cruising for both guests and crew. Special features on the first ship include a tattoo studio, a bookable karaoke room and record store with a DJ, and RockStar Suites that come with backstage entertainment access, hair and makeup crew, unlimited drinks, free laundry and access to the day spa's mud room, salt room, hydrotherapy pool and quartz beds.Fares include gratuities, Wi-Fi, fitness classes, dining at all restaurants, filtered water and soft drinks.
