(1:34 p.m. EDT) -- When Oasis of the Seas returns from its 63-day, $165M transformation in November 2019, it will feature an entirely new pool deck with a water park and three-story bar, a trio of waterslides, a new-to-the-line BBQ dining venue and more. The ship is the first in Royal Caribbean's Oasis Class to be modernized as part of the Royal Amplified fleet modernization effort, which spans 10 ships in four years.
"When Oasis of the Seas debuted as the world's largest and most groundbreaking cruise ship a decade ago, the typical cruise vacation as the world knew it was forever changed," said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. "Now with the opportunity to disrupt the industry once again, we've gone all-in with our biggest and boldest amplification yet."
Below is a breakdown of what's coming to Oasis of the Seas.
The reimagined Pool and Sports Zone will see the addition of the 10-story Ultimate Abyss, as well as The Perfect Storm trio of waterslides, which includes the Typhoon, Cyclone and Supercell slides. For the younger cruises, the Splashaway Bay water park will feature a Splash Pad for toddlers, three pint-sized waterslides, water cannons and fountains, pools and Royal Caribbean's first-ever twin drenching buckets. Of course, the area will still have the popular twin FlowRider surf simulators, nine-deck-high zip line and twin rock-climbing walls.

The pool deck itself will be reimagined in Caribbean style with comfy casitas, daybeds, hammocks and swing seats, and will feature The Lime & Coconut Bar, which first debuted on Navigator of the Seas; on Oasis it will be spread across two locations on the pool deck. The bar will be one of the liveliest spots, both day and night. New hot tubs will be added, as well, and the adults-only Solarium will be refreshed.
Oasis of the Seas will also feature the first-for-Royal Caribbean barbecue venue, Portside BBQ, with a meat-packed menu of smoked marbled brisket, pulled pork and chicken, beef ribs and burnt ends. Diners also will be able to choose from a variety of sides such as mac and cheese, home-style cornbread, baked beans and coleslaw. Prices will be a la carte.
Nearby will be the complimentary Mexican grab-and-go El Loco Fresh, serving up made-to-order Mexican favorites including tacos, burritos and quesadillas.
The Boardwalk will see the addition of the popular Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, which debuted on Independence of the Seas after its Royal Amplification refurbishment and has since become one of the line's signature bars. With 80 big-screen TVs, classic arcade games and a menu of pub favorites, it's particularly family-friendly, as well as the best spot to watch your favorite sports teams in action.
Sugar Beach, the lines 220-variety candy shop, also will be added to the Boardwalk. Unlike other Sugar Beach venues, it will have a walkup ice-cream window.
Karaoke lovers will be thrilled with the post-refurb Oasis of the Seas thanks to the addition of Spotlight Karaoke, where singers can rock out on the main stage or in one of two private rooms.
Also new to the ship will be the live music venue Music Hall, with a roster of cover bands, an expansive dance floor, pool tables and a second level of loungers for just hanging out. Rounding out the list of additions is the always-popular Bionic Bar, featuring two robotic bartenders.
Family-specific spaces onboard Oasis will be reimagined with technological enhancements that enable more interactive and personalized experiences in the kids and teen clubs. Adventure Ocean, the line's kids' club, will be redesigned with areas organized by activity type; there also will be a specialized area with programming for kids 3 to 5 years old.
The redesigned teen space will have a "hidden" entrance, gaming lounge, plus a space for watching movies or listening to music and a new outdoor deck.
Kids and kids-at-heart will love the new glow-in-the-dark laser tag game, Clash for the Crystal City, as well as the new Royal Escape Room, Mission Control: Apollo 18.
The amplified Oasis of the Seas will set sail on November 24, 2019 from the all-new Terminal A in Miami, where it will offer a series of seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. The ship will then move to Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, in May 2020 for seven-night Bahamas cruises.
