(1:18 p.m. EDT) -- Following the heels of a big expansion year in 2019, AmaWaterways will continue to grow, with a new European river cruise ship in 2020.
The 156-passenger ship, called AmaSiena, will sail on the Rhine, Main and Moselle rivers on various itineraries. It's a sister vessel to the other newer AmaWaterways ships AmaMora (coming later in 2019), AmaLea (2018) and AmaKristina (2017). All of these ships have connecting staterooms, so they can be used for the Adventures by Disney family charters, as well as cabins with dual French and outdoor balconies, a heated sun deck swimming pool, a fitness room and classes run by Wellness Hosts, a fleet of bicycles and massage and salon services.
"We are excited to have a beautiful new ship like AmaSiena with many cruises through one of my personal favorite areas along the Moselle river," said Kristin Karst, the company's executive vice president and co-founder.
This year, however, marks one of the biggest milestones for AmaWaterways, as its flagship vessel, the super-sized AmaMagna, makes its debut on the Danube in May. The innovative ship is twice as wide as the usual European river boat, yet has a capacity of only 196 passengers. It features larger suites between 335 to 710 square feet with full balconies, multiple dining venues, a water activities platform with a Sundowner boat for excursions, a large wellness studio, massage rooms and a pop-up Sun Deck bar.
TV personality Samantha Brown will serve as AmaMagna godmother at a christening ceremony in July 2019. (See what Brown had to say about her new role, in our recent interview.)
