From the parking area, you'll walk along a roadway that leads to a hotel, several beer gardens and souvenir stands. Here are terraces offering remarkable views of the Elbe River and the villages that line its banks below as well as the sandstone formations. Part of the experience is watching athletes climb the sandstone spires. Easy walking trails lead to the park's signature Bastei Bridge built in 1850-51 for visitors to have access to medieval ruins and additional vistas. The walk is along a series of well-maintained stairs with handrails.
