Sol Duc Hot Springs and Waterfall Hike: This half-day excursion takes you deep into the stunning Olympic National Park, through magnificent old-growth forest (the trees hundreds of feet tall) and past pristine mountain lakes. There are two highlights at Sol Duc: the hot sulfur springs and a 90-minute roundtrip hike through primeval forest to the dramatic Sol Duc Falls. The sulfur pools are manmade, filled with naturally heated water that mingles with volcanic gases and bubbles out of the ground. Changing rooms and towels are available. The hike, meanwhile, is spectacular and the trail clearly marked, through dense rainforest, crossing rivers that tumble over mossy rocks.
