Don't Miss in Astoria, Oregon

Fort Clatsop: This National Historical Park (about a 15-minute drive from the port) commemorates the western terminus of Lewis and Clark's Corps of Discovery expedition, which reached the area in 1805 and spent the winter in a rough stockade, which is replicated in the park. There's also a visitor center with lots of interesting displays about their journey.

Columbia River Maritime Museum: This fascinating, state-of-the-art museum brings Astoria's seafaring history to life, with interactive displays, videos and historic boats. You'll learn about daring rescues, see ancient maps and explore recovered shipwrecks.

Astoria Column: Climb the 164-step spiral staircase of this 125-foot-high column for spectacular views of Astoria and surrounds. It's located on a 600-foot hill above town.
