Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Balmoral

First Time Cruiser • Age 80s

My wife and I recently took our first cruise. We travelled on Deck 5 in an outer, windowed cabin, on Fred Olsen's Balmoral to the North German ports of Bremen, Hamburg and Kiel dep Newcastle 19 November. To say it was grossly disappointing would be to ignore the few highlights, but even they are too few to persuade us to repeat the experience. The worst aspect was the selfish and uncouth ...

The reason for choosing this cruise were many One the embarkation and disembarkation port was only half hour from home so we did not have any extra travel to join the ship.TwoThe ship Balmoral, we have sailed on this ship in the past and have had a wonderful time . The food, entertainment and ports of call had always been good. The size off the ship was also to our liking, friendly yet spacious ...

Wonderful Experience

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Koningsdam

This is my 27 cruise. My third on HAL. We chose this cruise for the great itinerary and Koningsdam being a fairly new ship. The experience was wonderful. The quality of the food and selection were some of the best we have had. There are several dining options. We had "anytime dining" and never had to wait for a table in the main dining room. The lines in the Lido Buffet for breakfast and ...

Spectacular Northern Lights

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Nordlys

We chose this cruise specifically because it gives you the greatest chance of seeing the Northern lights. We followed the advice from Hurtigruten about what camera lens to buy and to take a tripod but what they don't tell you is that there is also a 99p app from I-phone which will enable you to take pictures of the Northern Lights when they are weak, as was the case with our cruise. We only ...

Beautiful and well maintained.

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

I always wanted to cross the Atlantic on a real ocean vessel, which is the QM2. The ship met all of my expectations and then some. We were lucky enough to have the National Symphony onboard who entertained the guests with a wonderful program that included passengers in the chorale. The paintings of Cunard's ships past and present are all over the walls. History adorns the QM2 (in addition) ...

Horrible Food, Service & Entertaiment

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on MSC Magnifica

This cruise was the worst of all our cruises ever. The staff was unfriendly and treated us as if we were a great inconvienence. When we embarked the ship we were not welcomed aboard and I was integrated about my boarding pass as to why I didn't have a stamp by French Police on it. Which I later found out I didn't need that and police don't give stamps... they simply then took my photo and told me ...

It was mine and my partners first cruise. I really didn’t know what to expect after reading some of the reviews some good and some where dreadful. We went with an open mind and no sort of expectations as it was all new to us, as long as we got value for money we would be happy. Well I don’t understand the negative reviews about this ship she is a stunner. We had a balcony cabin and the all ...

We booked this cruise as we had a good offer which included a balcony upgrade, all inclusive package and WiFi. After reading some reviews we were worried that we wouldn’t enjoy it but went with an open mind. Embarkation and disembarkation were smooth for us. We were on and off ship very quickly. We were given a 13.00 time but couldn’t go to our rooms until 14.30. So had to keep our hand ...

Not the best cruise we've been on

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on MSC Magnifica

This was not the best cruise we've been on at all.....the main problem was the food, it was very, very poor. We ate in the dining room and it arrived Luke warm every time. On the first evening we waited 40 minutes between starter and main course. A couple of the steak meals we had were inedible. Staff were generally nice, especially Joy on the pool deck and sometimes The Tiger bar. Although ...

One of the greatest cruises of my life!

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on MSC Magnifica

I chose this cruise because my boyfriend and I love taking cruises. I had been to Europe a few times, but he had never been. I thought this was a great way to see Paris a few days before, cruise to a few different locations and spend an extra night in Germany before coming home. He has never been a sightseer or history buff, but he absolutely LOVED it. This was the most efficient organized ...
