We just had one of the worst cruises ever.
Our boat was stuck in port in Ushuaia for two days before leaving for the “Cruise of a lifetime”. To Antarctica. We keep being put off we were originally leaving at 6pm on the 24th. We sat there until the 26th. No excursions nothing to occupy our time. The boat we were on Atlas World Traveller had made no alternate plans for us and when kept tell the ...
This was our fourth Viking cruise but first expedition with our earlier experiences being river cruises. I would give the river cruises the highest possible rating which might be why this cruise did not live up to our expectations. First, the air transportation provided by Viking was abysmal. The flights involved many seemingly extra connections and in Chile, couples did not get seats next to ...
The pre-planning for this trip was a nightmare. They changed my outbound and return flights 3 times, gave me an 11 hr layover, and then changed my flights the day before I was supposed to leave, so I lost all my seat upgrades; And they refused to accommodate my request for the upgrades on the new flights. They treated me like I was stupid when I asked questions about meeting guides at airports ...
Thank you, Ischills, for sharing your experience with us. Your kind words about our onboard staff, particularly towards the individuals who stood out to you, are truly a testament to their...
We’ve taken 10 cruises, the last five with Viking. We have only taken Viking in the last several years due to their overall excellence. We just returned from the Antarctic Explorer Cruise and this was not what we have come to expect from Viking. Our initial itinerary was change from when we boarded the ship. The six days in Antarctica called for zodiac landings; however, our destinations changed, ...
We chose this cruise because it was advertised as going deep into Antarctica to the Ross Sea and beyond to New Zealand .The ship itself is tremendous, first class all the way And the house keeping and kitchen staff were superb. I found the expedition staff not the same. I didn't think several were customer oriented and few had even been down in that area. The issue is with where we did not get. We ...
This is our third Viking cruise. We were very pleased with the first two but a little disappointed this time.
Firstly, it is Antarctica expedition but the ship didn’t even reach the Antarctic circle. Most of the guests would probably not know that. The ship cruises around Antarctic peninsula where it is so close to the Antarctic Circle. It would be much greater psychologically for the guests ...
We appreciate you sharing your experience, Y580818. Thank you for the kind words about our staff and crew, it is truly a testament to their hard work! Although we regret to hear of your...
The price and ship quality were great. The cruise was very well managed and the expeditions (and expedition staff) were stellar. I did have a theft incident onboard from my bags when the ship was loaded and hurtigruten did little to either investigate or follow up on the report. I had 2 crew members tell me about how they were underpaid in a bid to obtain higher tips, but this also left me with ...
We enjoyed most of our 12 day cruise on World Navigator. While there were some communication issues with Atlas leading up to the cruise, these were swept away when we stepped on board this beautiful ship. It is very new with lots of room to move around. The Porto restaurant provided expansive views of the ocean while we enjoyed meals, the lecture theater is state of the art, and all of the ...
Shelly and I are overjoyed that we visited our 6th continent, Antarctica. It was a fabulous experience for us despite some Atlas glitches and the cancelling of some itinerary excursions and tours. Here’s a set of pros and cons from our December 28, 2021, through January 6, 2022, cruise, and represents Shelly’s and my experiences and opinions. Other cruisers may have different experiences and ...
I was on the December 19, 2021 sailing. The experience was uneven--some things like the expedition staff were outstanding, and some things like disembarkation day, were dismal. Pre-cruise communications with Atlas were horrible. Antarctica is a 5 star destination. The Expedition staff were 4 star. The onboard experience was 3 star. The included flights to and from Argentina were 2 star, and Atlas ...
