Alaskan cruise with pre-cruise land tour and post cruise Vancouver stay

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Viking Orion

The cruise was outstanding. Meals were excellent. Cruise ship was immaculate. Enjoyed this cruise immensely. Viking is more expensive but no extra cost on the ship and includes a lot that other cruise ships charge for. The Prestine Alaska pre-cruise tour was great. 2 days in Fairbanks, 2 days in Denali, 2 days in Talkeetna and 2 days in Seward. This included most meals and several excursions. ...

We wanted to see Alaska and it’s Glaciers and had understood that Silversea was an all inclusive luxury line Certainly the suite was well appointed but the public areas and restaurants were quite tired The food was not comparable to that on the Oceania and hardly ever featured local cuisine….For example Alaskan crab. The buffet breakfast never varied and Many of the included excursions ...

The people in the Corporate offices, who have never worked for a cruise line should not be making decisions about the food in the main dining room. Menu is the same every night except for the second to last evening. Gone are the days of lamb shanks, duck & osso bucco. Be prepared for chicken, salmon and NY strip every evening. Which is great but no other variety as in the past. We have ...

Wonderful Cruise, but no so great for Teens

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Spirit

Overall this was an amazing trip, full of once-in-a lifetime memories with friends and family. Our family cruises frequently and have cruised on Disney, Royal Caribbean, and NCL. This was only our second time on NCL and overall we had a wonderful time on the Spirit. The only downside was that we were traveling with our 14 YO son, and this cruise is definitely not the best for kids or teens - ...

We took this cruise to celebrate my husband's 65th birthday. We knew this was an older, smaller ship but we liked the itinerary so went with it. While the ship is older and could use updating, it is nevertheless impeccably clean and well maintained. That is one thing you can say for Celebrity....their ships are always immaculately clean! Our veranda cabin was smaller than what I am accustomed ...

we chose Viking because, as mature people we like their focus on "no kids, no casinos", assuming that they target individuals like ourselves. while the ship was impressive and the crew delightful, we traveled with a friend who has difficulty walking long distances, and Viking had NO options for him, nor did they respond--both before and during the cruise--to his requests for assistance. They ...

A step down from perfection

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Silver Muse

This was my third Silversea cruise and my first ever time to Alaska. I chose to do the Denali extension ahead of the 7 night cruise, then two nights in Vancouver on my own, making this a 2 week trip in total. First, the Denali extension. In my opinion this is completely skippable, and I was not impressed with much about the 4 night trip. The Captain Cook hotel is charming from a decor/history ...

Excursions not up to Viking Standards

We chose this cruise because we always wanted to go to Alaska. For the first time we had Viking book our air and unfortunately United Airlines turned out to be a nightmare. We had to fly to Anchorage and then take a two hour bus ride to Seward where we met the Orion. We didn't arrive until late afternoon and at that point had no idea where our room was since we were not assigned a room. At 4 pm ...

I had a credit from COVID and had never seen Alaska. Viking did a great job with everything. The food was outstanding - I only had one item I didn't love - the eggplant cannelloni! The guest lecturers were very informative and well-spoken. My only suggestion would be to move up the 6:30 lectures to 5:30 because I feel more people would attend. The cruise director, Heather ...

Chose this cruise to see more of Alaska since covid postponed it so long and it was on my bucket list.We had 3 generations on this cruise and we all fell in love with Alaska and all would move there if it could be for 4-6 months!!Royal caribbean is def price cutting more with each cruise and unfortunately cruising no longer feels like what it used to and that is so sad.The long times in port and ...
