Disappointing, over-priced

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Pearl Mist

Way over priced for quality of cruise experience. The main cruise director was at best annoying, at worst rude, impatient, unsympathetic. We were specifically told lunch would be offered to accommodate a late excursion only to find the DR closed. Fortunately, we were in port and could walk into a local restaurant that day. Daily excursions are listed as being included in the cruise fare but ...

Hubby and i selected this cruise because we thought cruising the maine coast and traveling to the small maine coastal villages would be fun. There actually was very little coastal cruising, parked us inland due to bad weather and took us via coach ( bus) to our ports. Our veranda suite was a huge disappointment. not enough space in the closet for our clothes ( and this was just a 7 day ...

We chose this cruise because of the route & ports. In previous cruises up the coast to Canada, only the biggest ports were included because of the ship size. So the Pearl Mist being smaller, was able to stop at places like Lunenburg, Gaspe, Isles de la Madeleine and Saguenay that bigger ships can't. However, it was not to be. In Bar Harbor, the ship lay at anchor for a full day because of a ...

An interesting niche but keep food service expectations low.

We, with two other couples who also were celebrating 55 years of marriage, were looking for a domestic, low key, intimate cruise. This well fit the bill although it was quite expensive relative to other luxury options......but we understood a small vessel simply had to be more expensive. The cruise met or exceeded many expectations, friendliness of staff, cleanliness and size of state rooms and ...

Turn around time for the cruise is only 2 hours and not enough time to get the ship clean in between cruises. WiFi, only available if you stand next to the public router. Staff in the dining room, young and not well-trained. Choose different tables until you find a staff that has experience. Cruise Director and Social Director is very good. We found very nice younger passengers we ...

We chose this cruise after our Cuba cruise had been canceled three times. The crew, facilities and food were all excellent. Our shore excursions were often cut short due to weather conditions which was certainly no fault of the crew. We had a large group of Stanford Alumni on board and they pretty much ruled what we did or did not do. They got the nice buses, the early departures, the ...

This cruise was subcontracted to a British company. The good bits. The exploration staff are excellent keeping the passengers up to date and work really hard. Their safety procedures were impeccable both for the initial brief and then the zodiac brief. The food was good on the whole and exceptional at times. The only complaint really was that more could have been made of the outside ...

The food was fairly well done. We have been on a lot of European river cruises and the food was, I think a little better. Not too easy to get ice tea. I don't drink any more so no wine for me. The wine was the same low end brand all need guts, but o cannot comment on the quality. There seemed to be plenty of it. Captain could not have been more friendly as were the servers and the cabin girls. Good ...

Nice Onboard Ambiance, Service, and Food; Little Else

Saturday to Saturday continuous shall ship cruises during the summer along the villages and yacht harbors along Maine coast north of Portland. Good food and service, free wine at dinner and free cocktails in the lounge before dinner. Single setting, open diner seating and generally good fellowship among passengers. Cabins roomy and comfortable. Overall on-board ship ambiance was good and pleasant; ...

The cabins on the Pearl Mist are large and comfortable. There is free wireless. Wine is included at lunch and dinner as are cocktails for an hour before dinner. An excellent musical group was brought onboard in Halifax for one night. The food was good most of the time. That is about all the positive comments I have about this cruise. The tours were poorly chosen for the demographic on board and ...
