West bound Atlantic Crossing

Review for Star Flyer to Transatlantic

Having sailed once before in the Caribbean with Star Flyer we decided on taking it across the Atlantic. The 23 day crossing was a combination of Malaga, Spain to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria (9 days) and Las Palmas to Barbados (14 days). Due to popularity it was over a year from booking to sailing. Cabin 121. 80% of passengers are repeat. We arrived in Malaga 4 days before the cruise, ...

Chose this mini cruise as it was leaving from Malaga, a fabulous port and very near home. Check in was smooth and hassle free. had lunch on board and contracted gastroenteritis, 3 hours after lunch! medical staff dealt very professional and after 10 h i was fine again, the 24h quarantine is harsh and hard, but rules are rules. .. The staff on board, are excellent and treat every passenger like " ...

A fun adventure to Spain and Morocco

Morocco has been on my bucket list for a while. We were in Gibraltar a while back and you could see across the straits to Africa. I have students from Africa and wanted to ride a camel also. You can get there on the mainstream lines, but usually just on transatlantic runs. Lisbon was a plus also. I did a search for those two ports and found Pullmantur. They are an off shoot of Royal ...

I grasped an opportunity to cruise on the Crystal yacht, Crystal Esprit, on its rare Europe transitional itinerary between Malaga and Barcelona: I wanted to do this for a long time but this ship is normally in Seychelle or the Caribbean during hot seasons for luxury sport-active cruises, which are not really my domain. I cruised on Crystal since the Crystal Harmony time and I wanted to see what is ...

Reviews were mixed but we took a chance as we’d been on 4 Thomson cruises before, although the last one was 8 years ago. What a mistake. The Lido buffet restaurant was awful, horrid seating, massive queues and mediocre food. The Sirens was a lot better for breakfast and lunch. The food was just ok but the choice in the self serve was disappointing, the drinks prices were expensive and the ...

A once in a lifetime experience - (NEVER AGAIN).

Review for Aegean Odyssey to Mediterranean

What a disastrous cruise experience. It is difficult to know where to start with this review. We always try hard to give a balanced and factual review. On this occasion there is not much we can say which is positive. The Aegean Odyssey is an old ship (nearing its 50th year). Originally built as a ferry it has been refitted as a small passenger ship. To be fair it not in bad shape for a ...

Captain and cruise director denied there were any problems with the engines.

Excursions. Unique and well orchestrated shore trips. However, the captain continually lied regarding the reasons for skipping ports and cruising at only 5 knots. Crete maritine authority nearly denied the ship permission to leave Chania port without a seaworthy test. Had to limp to Athens. Ship has NO activities on sea days other than a couple of lectures and bridge (which we don't play), ...

This is our third time on the Aegean Odyssey. It will be our last time on the Aegean Odyssey. The ship suffered engine problems on the previous cruise and they were forced to issue a Full refund to all passengers. The company has confirmed that our ship suffered a similar fate and the company made a decision to put a priority on getting the ship to Athens. That meant dropping ports, ...

First experience of Tui cruise. Only really one small but important niggle.

Review for Marella Discovery 2 to Europe - Western Mediterranean

Our reason for booking this Tui cruise was that we booked late and needed a disabled cabin, Tui were the only cruise line that could accommodate this at such short notice. We are not “seasoned” cruisers, this was only our fourth cruise in total and we have only sailed with P&O previously. We were nervous reading the reviews but have to say from the outset that we did enjoy our seven nights ...
