Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Carnival Pride

Before I begin let me say that our cruise experience has been wonderful in sone ways and terrible in others. We booked a 12 day Scandinavian cruise and our port excursions have been usually good to very good. We booked a large suite and it also has been very nice. Large and comfortable!. The staff has been Amazing. Even the weather has been near perfect. The entertainment has been generally ...

Fun ship.

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Carnival Celebration

I chose this for the excellent itinerary which it was. Excellent port stops; beautiful ship with plenty to do. Lots of daily activities if you are a social person and enjoy trying new things like dance classes, trivia games, lido parties. The shows were excellent as was the comedy. Casino was also fun and the dealers and managers were all very friendly as were most of the ...

Review for a Europe River Cruise on Balmoral

Dover is only 30 mins from us and this is the second time we have done a French river cruise as it’s so picturesque, however when we booked the cruise although it said ‘evening sailing’ it didn’t say that the ship was relocation from Southampton so embarkation wasn’t until 6pm! For us embarkation day (usually from around midday) is a important as we love having lunch, exploring the ship and ...

“Expedition” cruise from Dover to Svalbard

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Maud

If anyone is thinking of booking the same trip I thought I’d set out our views, just in case it helps someone decide whether to take it or not. I know some people loved it but I also know my views were shared by some other passengers on the trip. I will explain the “expedition” later, but following 2 covid cancelled MS Spitzbergen trips (Svalbard and Iceland) we booked the September 2022 ...

Fun for the grandkids

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Disney Magic

User Avatar

Chosen to take grand children on a holiday, originally intended to be 2 years ago but deferred because of Covid. Although Disney Magic is the oldest in the fleet, she is an elegant well appointed ship of a comfortable size, there were 2100 guests on board for this sailing, neatly full. Firstly the gripes: Disney’s chosen health partner Prenetics need to up their game and improve the website. ...

first cruise - very disappointing

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Bolette

First Time Cruiser • Age 70s

I chose this cruise as it fitted in with school holidays and it was planned as a treat for my grandchildren. I booked a family cabin for my 2 granddaughters and myself and a separate cabin for my son - very expensive as charged full cost although obviously only half use of facilities and food. The family cabin was very cramped with uncomfortable beds. My son had to move cabins twice because of ...

Some brilliant birdwatching, walking and history

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Maud

We chose this to visit some of the remote island on the west side of the Uk. We had great weather which is not always the case. I was not impressed with the motorised dinghies for going ashore which were quite uncomfortable particularly when the sea was choppy. However we visited some brilliant place. Rathlin island and St Kilda were the best. The ship is small and there were only 400 ...

Fred Olsen not what it was

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Bolette

My wife and I started cruising over 20 years ago and our favourite line was Fred Olsen. No longer. Since Fred jr. took over, cruise prices doubled; there is far better value elsewhere. It cost us £56 on this cruise for the Maitre D' to tap a few keys on his computer to alter our dining time ( I have medical issues and cannot dine late ) A one litre bottle of water in the cabin costs a ridiculous ...

Should be 4* but!

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Spirit of Adventure

User Avatar

We chose to go with Saga for the first time because of their 2 new 'Boutique' ships which are more the size we like (50k tonnes and under 1000 passengers). For a new vessel the Spirit of Adventure lacks any 'WOW' factor, everything is just 'nice'. It's best feature is the stern of the ship with a winding staircase that runs down from deck 12 (outside Veranda) to deck 6 with seating and standing ...

Just about acceptable - but badly managed and not very good value

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Bolette

User Avatar

This would have been an awkward cruise anyway - with reduced passenger numbers due to covid precautions and with half of the original destinations - most of those on the strength of which we'd originally booked this holiday - cancelled, plus an unfortunate breakdown and delay at Belfast further complicating schedules. What turned awkwardness into, at times, full-throated disaster was the ship's ...
