Cost cutting everywhere

Review for a Bermuda Cruise on Norwegian Gem

First Time Cruiser • Age 40s

I've been on 20+ cruises and this is my 7th NCL cruise to Bermuda. So many of the fun aspects of cruising have disappeared in NCL's most recent exercise in corporate greed. I think it's time for me to take a break from NCL. So many passengers I spoke with informed me that Royal Caribbean and even the newer Carnival ships are a much better experience than this NCL Gem cruise. * First of all, ...

My sister and I chose this cruise line because we heard so many positive things about it and we liked the Itinerary. We have both cruised with other cruise lines and we heard that Oceania is a step above all these with a higher end service and food. We didn't realize that with a smaller ship you get less entertainment and also less choices for things to do during the day. The people that travel ...

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Celebrity Summit

This was our sixth cruise and after reading the celebrity board and reading all of the cheerleaders' reviews we were very excited to try celebrity and especially the summit. People raved about the food, service, and ship. They said it was the best of the fleet. Well, if that is their best they are in serious trouble. The staff was very friendly, but they must be stretched very thin. It was ...

Excursion dissapointed

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Norwegian Pearl

We chose this cruise due to itinery for a reasonable deal. We stayed 3 nights in Boston at the marriott on arrival which was good. On ship the buffet was poor quality and lacked choice so we ate in the various dining rooms which was excellent and staff lovely. The shows were OK but not great. Entertainment in the individual bars were better. Our only complaint was one out of our 3 trips to Peggy's ...

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary and because we had a great time on our last Celebrity cruise a few years back. This time around was a different experience. We arrived to our room and the floor had not been vacuumed. A large hairball was on the floor, a piece of used soap was stuck to the tissue box. We found a used razor on a shelf. Old fruit loops were under the bed, and there was a ...

Great Itinerary and Staff; Dining a Miss

We have been cruising with Celebrity for many years and finally had the opportunity to travel on a much-anticipated New England/Canada fall cruise this year. We loved the itinerary and lucked out in picking a date which avoided two hurricanes, one which affected the cruise right before ours and one which might disrupt the cruise following ours. We were so fortunate and had great weather ...

Celebrity gone downhill

We've cruised before numerous times with Celebrity and have been on Summit before. It's really gone downhill. The ship is old and tired, there is rust everywhere, many of the areas need repair and repainting. All the niceties for a premium cruise are gone. Batheoom and Spa changing amenities are just basic now. No cotton buds, cotton wool, body lotion etc. Hard selling on the first day was ...

WOW Has Cruising Changed - Not for the Better

We chose this cruise to visit the east coast and possible see some early fall color. We really like the size of the ship. The itinerary of the cruise is another reason we picked this cruise. Very good stops. The surprise for me was: 1. The Food. WOW, the food quality and Varity was really reduced on this sailing. Dining in the main dining room, the offerings and selection were really reduced ...

We chose this cruise for the itinerary - leaving from Boston and going through the Maritime provinces to Quebec City and back. I have noticed that most of the good reviews for the Celebrity Summit generally come from the passengers who did the short jaunts in the Bahamas and the poor reviews generally come from longtime cruisers and/or passengers on the longer cruises. This cruise on the ...

Just ok on Zuiderdam. Beware anytime dining

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Zuiderdam

We were excited to be on Zuiderdam on Aug 26, from Boston up to Quebec city. While the ship was nice and in good shape for being a few years old, it was the service and our cabin that disappointed us. Pros: - ship was in good shape. - Our inside cabin was roomy for 4. - good communication and service once we got quarantined in our inside cabin half way through the cruise (not ...
