Rhine River Cruise - Water is Unpredictable, The Best Crew Matters

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on AmaMora

After cruising on a private barge in Dijon, France, and on an Ama Waterways competitor's ship on the Danube in 2019, our traveling friends began to focus on upgrading to Ama for our next trip. We decided on an AmaMora Winter Market Cruise from Amsterdam to Basel. Water levels on the Rhine vary from year to year, and in 2023, there was high water cascading into the river from Switzerland. ...

Wonderful Vacation

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Alruna

Chose Viking cruise because of the small ship size and the ability of seeing so many different Christmas Markets. The food on board was decent. Breakfast was the best offering of the day. Lunch and supper were less stellar. Typical cruise fare. If you are looking for gourmet you will be disappointed, but you won’t starve. Coffee and snacks are provided all day long for a quick energy boost. ...

Spectacular cruise, excellent service, and lots of excursion options

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Hervor

We did the Amsterdam-to-Basel cruise on the Hervor in late September 2023. This was our first river cruise. We've been on several ocean cruises. So it took a while to adjust to the smaller ship. For example... There's only one dining room and everyone eats at the same time. So that can get a bit hectic, and often it was difficult to find a place to sit. My wife and I were traveling by ...

Boarding was good we were able to have lunch and drinks in the lounge while waiting for rooms to be ready. Recommendation. Could use more good evening entertainment. Piano but no piano man. Bell ringers and violinist had to end their shows early to get off the boat so we could sail. Dining room very crowded. Not much room to move around. Ports always seemed in industrial areas. ...

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Spirit of the Rhine

Spirit of the Rhine a new beautifully COMPACT ship. Beds twins can be put together but with single duvets. Staff exceptional. All inclusive a bonus. Lots of wine some good. We have today come back from Highlights of the Mosel which we found relaxing. We climbed up to each castle on the hilltops which I loved. The journey on Eurostar like waiting at an airport. The included chauffeur got us there 2 ...

Couldn't be happier!

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Mani

Viking had us covered! We were happy with the food, the service, the excursions, the staff! I would give it a 4.5 out of 5. My only complaints were the very small beds (and we had issues with the reservation process which I will send in separately). I also wish the elevator went to the top floor, for those with mobility limitations this was an issue. Hope this will be a feature in future ...

We loved the cruise. Great trip, food, excursions, services, the top deck viewing/walking area and cabins were exceptional. Unfortunately, almost everyone got a mild case of Covid. Regarding the flight arrangements, I was disappointed that my airport - PHL - was not used for a direct flight to Europe. There are direct flights from PHL to Amsterdam which would have saved us 2 1/2 hrs. Going ...

The trip of a lifetime

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Bragi

I was interested in visiting all of the places on the itinerary. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because we had to switch ships in the middle of the trip. It was not Viking's fault and they absolutely handled it like pros! Mother Nature was at fault. If I could have given a 4.9 I would ! The staff was wonderful, the ship was spotless, the food and drink were delicious, and the tour ...

We chose this cruise because it sailed to places we had not been and wanted to see. Our Cruise Director, Hotel Manager, Chef, and all other crew members were exceptional. Viking goes above and beyond to ensure a positive guest experience. We enjoyed visiting medieval villages like Regensburg, Germany, and touring the Melk Abbey. A highlight and surprise was the classical Concert we attended in ...

Magical trip through Europe by river

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Scenic Jade

User Avatar

First Time Cruiser • Age 50s

We heard that Scenic was a great trip to do and we wanted to try a river cruise instead of a sea cruise. We also wanted a cruise that was all inclusive and did not have a lot of people on board. The cruise was amazing with beautiful sights to see as we traveled along the river. The crew were very helpful and nothing was too much for them to do for us. The food was beautifully presented and ...
