NCL Star Alaska Cruise 9/17/-9/24

We had a wonderful time on our first Alaska cruise despite the rainy weather. This was our 29th cruise (5th on NCL) but our first one to Alaska. It was just my spouse and I - both 47 years old. We flew from Atlanta to Seattle the night before the cruise and stayed at the Marriott Seattle Riverfront right across from the port. We had dinner at Elliott's Oyster Bar just a half mile walk and it was wonderful. On Saturday, the hotel bellman rolled our luggage across the street for us to the port at 11:00a.m. We had V.I.P. check-in since we were staying in a Penthouse Suite so we were able to check-in and embark quickly. We were on the 8th deck aft above the spinnaker lounge. DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE TO PARTY IN THE SPINNAKER LOUNGE UNTIL 2:00AM. I say this because I wish we would have known about it when we booked it. We could hear every song that was played and almost every word that was said and no one can sleep with the bass music that they were playing. Neighbors on both sides of us were also complaining. When we notified our concierge, he said there was only one other room available but it would be a downgrade from what we had. He finally offered to let us use the other room to sleep in and keep our room. We were also compensated. We are not complainers and tried to stand it as long as we could. We waited until the third day to complain and they said they get complaints every cruise and are going to be working on it when the Star goes to dry dock.

Other than that, everything else on the Star was good. We ate at LeBistro, Endless Summer, LaCacina and Cagneys as far as specialty restaurants go. Read more
