We had a fairly good vacation on The Freedom of the Seas. It was our first RC cruise and even though we love cruising, we're not sure if we'll book another with RC. I had originally booked another boat and bought tickets to Coco Cay at a very good price. The company swapped boats and cancelled my Coco Cay tickets. When I asked if I could get them for the same price again, they refused so I had to pay a lot more. Compare this to Carnival who gave each person $100 on board credit for a cruise that had been rescheduled due to the pandemic. Terrible service from RC booking in general. The cruise itself was fun, lots of things to do and the stops were entertaining. The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable in our balcony room, steward was awesome. Service everywhere on the ship was excellent, although salespeople were very aggressive in the shops. They don't sell Tylenol or other over the counter meds so if you need some you have to pay $190 to schedule an appointment with the doctor, I decided just to deal with the pain since we were on the last day anyhow. Food however, was absolutely horrible for the main dining room, buffet and room service. It was prepared, served and presented as well as it could be but was bland and very obviously made from only the very cheapest ingredients. Steaks in particular had a strange texture that actually made me a little nauseated. The lamb shank was the only meal I really enjoyed onboard. Desserts were not worth picking up your spoon for in general. Breakfast in the Windjammer was just as bad. I got their signature drink to sit by the pool with, it was disgusting. My husband got a Mai Tai which was even worse. Overall, we were disappointed, we had hoped that RC was going to be the cruise line we would stick with but the search continues for the cruise line worth building up loyalty points with.
