After a year and a half of no opportunity to safely cruise or travel, we were thrilled to see that Crystal was going to be offering 7 day cruises in the Bahamas. Even though we live in South Florida, we still had to fly to Nassau to board the Serenity to assure all passengers that everyone was required to be vaccinated and would be Covid tested just before boarding the ship. Our reservation for this cruise was made in April before the Delta variant was known in the US and we felt that these safety measures would keep us protected. When we boarded the ship, we were two of the few passengers who wore masks pretty much everywhere, except when we were dining or outside on beach/ snorkeling excursions, for extra precaution. Our temperatures were checked on entry to the dining room, which was good and the ship was kept meticulously clean and sanitized as well. As soon as we got onboard, we were advised (on this cruise this week) that no one had to wear a mask anymore while on the ship and that we were free from that restriction. So glad that we still chose to wear our masks in the shows and common areas anyway.

This was a spectacular cruise all in all. Being our 3rd Crystal cruise, we knew the high standards to expect and we were not disappointed. The food, service, entertainment, and hospitality were of the highest caliber. Sadly (but not for us!), this lovely ship was only about 1/3 full. The staff and crew seemed like they rolled out the red carpet for us passengers constantly. Greeting us at all times and could not attend enough to our needs and wants. The dining experience especially in the specialty restaurants was outstanding. We were fortunate enough to have beautiful calm sunny weather this week and were spoiled by the weather gods. The itinerary went to the out islands and it felt like the Crystal passengers had the destinations almost all to ourselves. Gorgeous clear and clear warm turquoise blue waters were enjoyed at virtually every port. It was a laid back and tropical island feel in all of our adventures. The only drag was an extended fuel stop at Freeport which last many hours longer than anticipated. It was not the ship or Captain's fault, but a logistical error by someone outside with managing refueling. Was resolved and we made it back to Nassau on time. Best and most outstanding Captain Vorland and Cruise Director Rick Spath on this ship that you will ever find! They never stopped working and always aimed to please.

This trip was a much needed mental, emotional, and spiritual boost for the body and soul of a lifelong cruiser that had cruise withdrawal from Covid. Lots of paperwork and "health visas" required, but worth it. SOOOO good!

Cabin Review

Deluxe Stateroom with Verandah

Cabin had most comfortable bed and lots of storage room for personal items and clothes. Had some minor mechanical issues, but was fixed almost immediately.
