I like the Carnival cruise line and have cruised with them before. Most of the cruises have been just amazing, however, this one was really different. Besides all of the COVID testing etc. that has to be done, the ship was sailing at 50% capacity. There were no lines! Getting on and off were easy, the new way to do the safety briefing was so much better, you go to your muster station and they check you in, show you how to put on a "flotation device" and you go to your room and watch a video. The staff could not have been more helpful and you truly felt like you were in first class for everything. Now, let's talk about the only bad thing on the cruise! THE SPA! Not only do they try and upsale you, they lie. I booked treatments on line for both my friend and I, paid for it etc. When we got there they said they only had one booking that they other one didn't show up. Now I have the copy of the reservation (including the cost) with me, they advised since they didn't get it that it couldn't be honored but they would go ahead and do the service, mind it was for a mani/pedi! Not once did they advise since they would go ahead and do it that it would cost more! I found out as we were checking out, after asking about a massage the next day, because as we all know at the spa, your first service is 10% off, second is 20% and third is 30%. We were offered a $199 massage with a $70 dollar discount Sounds good right? After the massage, we were presented with a bill for $299! Called the mgr and she took the price back down to the the 199 plus 70 off, however, then they added a tip for $70. The reason for the price change? She said I must have misunderstood how much it was. I felt like I was at the worst used car lot with the worst salesman in the world! NEVER AGAIN. Be prepared if you go there for all the changes and upcharges! In my opinion Carnival needs to change who runs the spas for them or they should take charge of the spas themselves! If they aren't in charge, they can't change anything!
